Composition and release form

Lyophilisate for preparing a solution for intranasal administration - 1 vial:

  • lyophilisate of juice and extract of fresh tubers of European cyclamen - 50 mg (hemolytic index 1:6000 - 1:12000);
  • bottle with solvent: water for injection - 5 ml.

Lyophilisate for preparing a solution for intranasal administration. 50 mg of the drug (hemolytic index 1:6000–1:12000) in a bottle made of colorless glass (hydrolytic class 1 EF), sealed with a rubber stopper type 1 (EF) and a screw-on plastic cap.

Each bottle, together with a bottle of solvent (5 ml of water for injection in a PE bottle, hermetically sealed) and a spray nozzle, is placed in a plastic tray. The pallet is placed in a cardboard box.

Lyophilisate: white to light brown, hygroscopic.

Solvent (water for injection): clear, colorless liquid.

The solution obtained after dissolving 0.05 g of the drug in 5 ml of water is colorless to light yellow.

The effect of Sinuforte ® is due to the combined effects of cyclamen components, the most studied of which are triterpene saponins. Kinetic studies are not possible because the complex of components cannot be traced using markers or bioassays. For the same reason, it is impossible to detect drug metabolites.

A herbal preparation for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses (SNS) and nasal cavity. The drug acts on the sensitive receptors of the trigeminal nerve in the area of the middle nasal meatus and causes reflex secretion in the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and SNP. Stimulated hypersecretion is accompanied by a change in the rheological properties of the secretion and normalization of its viscosity. Reflex hypersecretion in combination with the anti-edematous effect of the drug leads to the evacuation of secretions from the sinuses into the nasopharynx and provides physiological drainage of all sinuses simultaneously.

The drug helps restore mucociliary transport in the nasal cavity and SNP by enhancing the presence of the liquid part of the secretion in the surface layer of mucus. Sinuforte ® enhances blood microcirculation in the nasal mucosa and SNP. This is because parasympathetic stimulation, which activates secretion, also causes vasodilation of the vessels supplying the glands.

Increased reflex secretion in the form of serous-mucosal discharge is detected after a few minutes and can last from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the individual characteristics of the organism.

Indications for use of Sinuforte

  • complex therapy of acute and chronic sinusitis: sinusitis, sinusitis, ethmoiditis and sphenoiditis (in the case of purulent sinusitis, occurring with symptoms of generalization of infection and/or orbital complications, Sinuforte ® should be used only in combination with antibiotics). In case of uncomplicated course of the disease, it is possible to use the drug as a monotherapy under the supervision of a physician;
  • complex therapy of rhinosinusitis accompanied by exudative otitis media;
  • the period of early postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic surgical interventions on the paranasal sinuses.

Contraindications to the use of Sinuforte

  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
  • polypous rhinosinusitis;
  • paranasal sinus cysts;
  • allergic rhinosinusopathy;
  • allergic reactions (delayed and immediate type);
  • arterial hypertension II–III degree;
  • pregnancy (safety of use during this period has not been studied);
  • lactation period (safety of use during this period has not been studied);
  • children under 5 years of age (use in children under 5 years of age has not been studied).

Sinuforte Use during pregnancy and children

Contraindicated during pregnancy. Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.

Sinuforte side effects

There may be a feeling of mild or moderate burning in the nasal cavity, salivation and/or lacrimation in response to irritation of the sensitive receptors of the trigeminal nerve.

In some cases, redness of the face, a short-term headache in the frontal region, or pale pink discharge from the nose may appear as a result of capillary diapedesis. The above short-term physiological reactions confirm the reflex mechanism of action of the drug and do not require cessation of treatment.

Allergic reactions are possible (including skin rash, shortness of breath, etc.). In these cases, it is recommended to stop taking the drug and consult a specialist.

It is necessary to refrain from prior administration, as well as simultaneous use of local anesthetics and/or local decongestants due to a possible violation of the mechanism of action of the drug Sinuforte ®.

If necessary, a combination of Sinuforte ® with antibacterial drugs is possible.

Interactions with other drugs have not yet been studied.

Sinuforte dosage

Intranasally, adults and children over 5 years of age.

Sequence of actions when using the drug

  1. Unscrew the cap of the bottle with the drug and remove the stopper.
  2. Open the solvent bottle and break off the top part.
  3. Completely pour the contents of the solvent into the bottle with the drug.
  4. Screw the dispenser spray onto the bottle and shake until the drug is completely dissolved.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the dispenser sprayer.
  6. Make 2-3 test sprays into the air.
  7. With the head in a vertical position, insert a dispenser spray into each nasal passage, hold your breath and spray with one click.

With each press, the dispenser sprays 0.13 ml (2-3 drops) of the drug, which is about 1.3 mg of the drug (single dose).

The drug prepared in the above manner is administered once a day by spraying once into each nasal passage.

The drug is recommended to be used daily; if necessary, it can be used every other day.

The duration of one course of treatment is 12–16 days when the drug is administered every other day or 6–8 days when used daily.

Currently, no cases of overdose of Sinuforte ® have been reported. Exceeding a single dose does not lead to an increase in the therapeutic effect and can cause a strong burning sensation and pain in the nasopharynx.

If symptoms of overdose appear, it is necessary to carry out symptomatic therapy: rinse the nasal cavity, gargle with warm water and use antihistamines.

During the period of postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic interventions, Sinuforte ® is used on the second day to cleanse (sanitize) the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity and reduce swelling of the mucous membrane.

When using, avoid contact of Sinuforte ® with the eyes due to the irritant effect of the drug on the mucous membrane of the eye and the possible development of acute conjunctivitis.

Purpose

The drug Sinuforte is prescribed for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity.

Sinuforte is prescribed by a doctor for inflammatory and purulent diseases of the sinuses. It is designed to deeply rinse the sinuses and remove mucus.

Despite the fact that the drug is of plant origin, it cannot be considered completely safe, it has a number of side effects and is not compatible with all drugs.

Sinuforte is prescribed by an ENT doctor in the following cases:

  • Purulent and catarrhal sinusitis. Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal (maxillary) sinuses. In the catarrhal form, pus does not accumulate in the sinuses, so it can be very difficult to distinguish it from a runny nose. It often occurs as a complication of ARVI, after rhinitis. In the purulent form, sinusitis is accompanied by green purulent discharge from the nose. The patient also experiences severe swelling that prevents breathing through the nose, headaches that get worse when tilting the head, sometimes increased body temperature, swelling of the eyelids, cheeks, and forehead.
  • Ethmoiditis. This is an inflammation of the ethmoid sinus. It is located deep in the front of the skull next to the eye sockets. With ethmoiditis, pain occurs in the bridge of the nose, which intensifies as the disease progresses, the eyes may hurt and vision may deteriorate, body temperature rises, swelling of the eyelids and redness of the sclera appear. There may not be any nasal discharge.
  • Frontit. Frontitis is called inflammation of the frontal facial sinus. The frontal sinus is located close to other important organs and tissues, so frontal sinusitis can lead to serious complications. With severe swelling, there is no nasal discharge, but there is swelling of the tissues above the eyebrows, on the upper eyelid, pain in the forehead, and increased body temperature.
  • Sphenoiditis. Inflammation of the sphenoid sinus. This is the smallest sinus and is located deep at the base of the skull. Symptoms of sphenoiditis are a severe headache in the back of the head, which does not go away within 5-7 days and does not disappear after taking painkillers. Most often there is no nasal discharge, but the body temperature may rise, weakness and drowsiness may appear.

Dosage and use of Sinuforte, side effects

The dosage of Sinuforte is determined by the doctor depending on the age and condition of the patient.

Most often, the drug is used once a day, every day for a week or every other day for two weeks. For a therapeutic effect, 6-8 injections of Sinuforte are enough. It is advisable to complete the course of treatment even if improvements appear.

The drug is sold in a box, includes instructions for use, a spray cap and 2 transparent plastic bottles: one with powder, which is the drug, and the second with a solvent.

First you need to open both bottles and pour the solvent into the powder. Then you need to screw the spray cap on the bottle and shake it thoroughly until the powder is completely dissolved. You can do a couple of test sprays into the air. After this, the drug is ready for use.

One spray into each nostril is sufficient. When injecting, it is important to keep your head upright to prevent the medicine from getting into your throat. When pressing the nebulizer, you must hold your breath and do not inhale the drug.

When using the drug, a burning sensation may appear - this is considered normal if the burning sensation does not lead to tissue swelling and goes away quickly.

When using Sinuforte, side effects may be the following:

  • Unpleasant sensation in the nose. Even with proper use, itching, burning, and pain in the nose may occur. If the burning sensation does not stop, but only intensifies over time, accompanied by redness and swelling, the use of the drug should be stopped and consult a doctor.
  • Increased salivation and lacrimation. This side effect is due to the irritant effect of cyclamen on the nerve receptors in the nose. After some time, these side effects disappear on their own.
  • Allergic reaction. Allergies are more likely to occur in people who already have pollen and plant allergies. In this case, a rash appears, irritation in the nose, itching increases, and swelling appears. If an allergy occurs, it is recommended to replace the drug with an analogue.

Contraindications for use

Sinuforte is one of the drugs that has a number of restrictions for use, which you need to familiarize yourself with before use.

The drug Sinuforte cannot be considered absolutely safe, even despite the presence of herbal components in the composition. Particular caution should be exercised when using the drug during pregnancy, lactation and childhood.

It is not recommended to use Sinuforte simultaneously with other local anesthetic drugs. When using other local remedies, you should consult your doctor, since Sinuforte and other drugs may have the opposite effect.

It is not recommended to use Sinuforte immediately after other nasal drops and sprays, as most of the drug will be excreted along with mucus and pus.

The following conditions are absolute contraindications.

  • Allergy to cyclamen. It is not recommended to use the drug for people who are already allergic to the plant extract of cyclamen. Very often, an allergic reaction occurs in people who have already had reactions to herbal preparations.
  • Polyps and cysts. It is not recommended to use the drug in the presence of polyps and cysts in the nose, as it can provoke their breakthrough and worsen the patient’s situation.
  • Pregnancy and lactation. The instructions for the drug say that no studies have been conducted on the effects of the drug on the fetus, but pregnancy is included in the list of contraindications. Cyclamen can negatively affect the fetus and newborn child, therefore, during pregnancy and lactation, it is recommended to rinse the nose at the clinic without using Sinuforte. In pharmacies you can find other remedies for sinusitis that are safe during pregnancy.
  • Children's age up to 6 years. It is not recommended to use Sinuforte for the treatment of preschool children. The drug can cause a severe allergic reaction, a burning sensation in the child’s nose and have a negative effect on the child’s body.

Analogues of Sinuforte

Sinusitis is a collective concept that combines frontal sinusitis and sinusitis. Diseases are provoked by allergens, viruses, bacteria and occur in acute or chronic form. Symptoms depend on the severity of the condition and the type. Common signs include nasal discharge or congestion, decreased sense of smell, facial pain, fever and cough.

A common drug for the treatment of sinusitis is the Spanish medicine Sinuforte. A significant disadvantage is the high cost. Advantages: efficiency and double action. If replacement is necessary, check out Sinuforte analogues and discuss the choice with an otolaryngologist.

pharmachologic effect

Manufacturer: B. Brown Medical or Laboratory Reig Jofre, Spain

Release form: lyophilisate

Active ingredient: cyclamen juice and extract

Sinuforte is available in the form of a lyophilisate (powder) based on a plant component. The medicine with cyclamen helps to release and remove secretions from the sinuses into the nasopharynx and, accordingly, cleanse them. The second effect of the drug is decongestant.

As a result, breathing is normalized and nasal discharge or congestion is eliminated. The duration of the therapeutic effect after instillation is observed up to 120 minutes.

Indications for use of Sinuforte

According to the instructions for use, the medicine is used for acute and chronic sinusitis - frontal sinusitis, sinusitis and other types. For uncomplicated forms, it can be used alone; for complications, it can be supplemented with antibacterial drugs.

Also prescribed for rhinosinusitis accompanied by exudative otitis media.

In pediatric practice, the medicine is used from 5 years of age. Restrictions – pregnancy, breastfeeding, polyps and cysts, allergic diseases of the nasal cavity.

Sinupret or Sinuforte - which is better?

The drug is produced in Germany. It has various forms: dragees, drops, syrup. The price for a pack of dragees (50 pieces) is about 400 rubles. The same price is for drops (100 ml bottle).

Sinupret, compared to Sinuforte, is more often used as monotherapy.

It should be noted that a course of treatment with Sunupret is cheaper, especially in cases where the drug is used for a long time.

  • The herbal composition (sorrel, elderberry, primrose, gentian, verbena) of sinupret ensures the removal of pathological secretions from the paranasal sinuses.
  • The drug has antimicrobial, anti-edematous and immunostimulating effects.
  • Sinupret is approved in pediatrics from two years of age. It is recommended to give dragees only from the age of 6, since children at this age are already able to swallow tablets.

If we consider the dose of the drug in the form of tablets, then 1 tablet is usually prescribed three times a day. The dose can be increased to 6 tablets for adults. The course of treatment is usually 7–14 days.

After taking the drug, patients note that the nasal mucosa dries out less, swelling and congestion go away. Sometimes patients prefer sinupret drops; they are usually prescribed in pediatrics.

For the youngest patients (2 years), oral drops are prescribed at the rate of 15 drops three times a day. For adults, this dose is three times higher. A single dose for a two-year-old child in syrup is 6.3 ml. More details about the rules for taking Sinupret are described in the instructions for use.

Sometimes after taking Sinuforte, nausea, discomfort in the stomach, itching, shortness of breath, and other symptoms appear. If such reactions occur, the drug is changed to an analogue.

Sinuforte - instructions for use

The package with the drug contains two bottles. It is necessary to add the solvent to the lyophilisate and shake until completely dissolved.

The medicine is used daily or every other day, the course is 6–8 or 12–16 days, respectively. Frequency – once a day.

How to take Sinuforte - morning or evening? Drops are used intranasally, i.e. instilled into the nose once a day, mainly in the morning.

After instillation, allergic reactions, burning in the nasal cavity, flow of tears and saliva are possible. All side effects go away quickly.

Analogues of the drug

In connection with the above, it is important to note that the well-known drug Nasodren can be called an analogue of Sinuforte. This is actually the same drug. It's just registered under different names in different countries. Why this happened is not known for certain. It is possible that both names are brands of two competing manufacturers (or, conversely, allied companies) licensed to produce the same drug, and the difference in names characterizes only the location of the manufacturer. As a second version, we can assume that the raw materials for production are grown in different places. Or maybe there are some other reasons. Nasodren is somewhat cheaper, but you can’t find it everywhere (in our time, there are also scarce goods, as it turned out).

Similar drugs are available. For example, the drug Healer from Green-Visa. It also contains extract from cyclamen tubers. In addition, calendula, chamomile, St. John's wort, aloe, tea tree, eucalyptus, juniper, and propolis are also present. The purpose of the drug is similar: help with problems in the nasal cavity.

There are many similarities in folk recipes.

Analogues of Sinuforte

Substitutes for Sinuforte spray are available in drops, nasal sprays, drops and tablets for oral administration. The mechanism of action of the drugs is different. The included components, indications, contraindications and pricing policies also differ.

Manufacturer: Bionorica or Rottendorf Pharma, Germany

Release form: drops, dragees

Active ingredient: plant extracts

An analogue cheaper than Sinuforte is the drug Sinupret. Belongs to the same group of drugs - herbal remedies for the treatment of nasal diseases, which have secretolytic and secretomotor effects. Thus, the Sinuforte substitute is used for sinusitis with viscous secretions to liquefy and remove from the nasal cavity and reduce inflammation.

This analogue of Sinuforte contains extracts:

Sinupret tablets are used from 6 years of age. The drops contain ethyl alcohol and are used orally in pediatrics from 2 years of age. The dosage and course are determined by the attending physician.

The frequency of use of the Sinuforte substitute Sinupret for sinusitis is three times a day for 7–14 days.

Manufacturer: Alvogen Pharma, Russia

Release form: device and powder

Active ingredient: halite, potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, licorice and rosehip extracts

Dolphin is not a drug, but a medical device used for rinsing the nasal cavity. It is available in sachets of 1 and 2 g for children and adults, respectively.

Beneficial properties of the Sinuforte nasal drops analogue:

  • cleansing the nasal cavity from mucus, viscous secretions, allergens, dust, medications and other particles;
  • moisturizing the mucous membrane;
  • restoration or regeneration;
  • improving the protective properties of the nasal cavity.

In combination with other drugs, rinsing the nose with Dolphin promotes rapid recovery.

Manufacturer: Novartis, Switzerland

Release form: spray

Active ingredient: xylometazoline, ipratropium bromide

Otrivin complex is an over-the-counter analogue of Sinuforte, which has the following therapeutic effects:

  • constricts blood vessels, eliminates swelling and drainage from the nose;
  • normalizes breathing;
  • stops sneezing.

The medicine is used for sinusitis, hay fever, acute respiratory infections and allergic rhinitis. Not used in childhood, during breastfeeding and pregnancy, glaucoma.

How to use drops correctly - dosage and instructions for use

It should be taken in the dosages prescribed by the doctor and for the duration of the course indicated by the specialist. Use the product by spraying into the nose. Each press of the dispenser dispenses an amount of the drug that is equivalent to 2-3 drops, or 0.13 ml. This dosage is just a single dose. However, if necessary, it can be increased at the discretion of the doctor.

For adults, the following rule applies: use 1 spray in each nostril once a day. In order for the drug to be sprayed better, it is recommended to first make two injections into the air.

Sinuforte should be used every day, without allowing breaks in therapy. The course of treatment averages 12-16 days if treatment is offered every other day, and 6-8 days with daily therapy.

You cannot lengthen the course or increase the dosage on your own - there is a risk of getting unexpected results, leading to complications and worsening the course of the pathological process.

Sinuforte or Rinofluimucil – which is better?

Manufacturer: Zambon S.P.A., Italy

Release form: spray

Active ingredient: acetylcysteine, tuaminoheptane

Sinuforte's analog Rinofluimucil is an anticongestive drug, i.e. the action is aimed at relieving swelling, relieving runny nose and nasal congestion.

The medication contains 2 components:

  • acetylcysteine thins secretions and reduces inflammation in the nasal cavity;
  • Tuaminoheptane constricts blood vessels, eliminates redness and swelling of the mucous membrane.

Sinuforte or Polydex - which is better?

Unlike Sinuforte, Polydexa is a combined hormonal agent with anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictor and antibacterial effects. This is a local antibiotic that helps the patient cope with sinusitis. Polydexa contains neomycin sulfate, polymexin B sulfate, phenylephrine, lithium chloride, citric acid, macrogol.

The drug interaction of the analogue is due to the phenylephrine content. It reduces the hypotensive effect of diuretics and antihypertensive drugs. If such a combination cannot be avoided, then the treatment process with an analogue should be carried out under the supervision of a specialist.

Information: The product contains substances that can give a positive result during doping control of athletes.

The product should not be used for kidney disease, glaucoma, pregnancy and while using MAO inhibitors.

The useful properties of the analogue are as follows:

  • reduce inflammation;
  • act on the causative agent of sinusitis;
  • normalize breathing;
  • eliminate swelling of the mucous membrane.

The drug is prescribed up to 5 times a day, depending on the age of the person. The course of therapy with the analogue, unlike the original, is only 10 days.

Information: The drug Polydex for the nose is used only as prescribed by an otolaryngologist, and is sold in pharmacies with a prescription. Use for self-medication is not recommended due to the risk of microorganism resistance to antibacterial drugs and ineffectiveness for sinusitis.
