  • Regenerating;
  • General strengthening;
  • Epithelializing;
  • Beneficial effect on the condition of blood vessels;

Typical causes of pharyngitis:

  1. Inhalation of supercooled, dusty, tobacco, chemically polluted air through the mouth.
  2. Throat irritation with alcohol, gastric juice.
  3. Viruses: rhino-, corona-, adeno-, influenza viruses and others.
  4. Bacteria: staphylo-, pneumo-, gono-, streptococci, chlamydia.
  5. The above diseases.

Inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa can be acute or chronic. Acute pharyngitis, the treatment of which was interrupted or inadequately carried out, becomes chronic. The acute phase is characterized by:

  • redness of the throat;
  • sore throat, especially when swallowing emptyly (it can radiate to the ears);
  • tickling and dryness, causing discomfort and an obsessive dry cough;
  • if pharyngitis develops against the background of another disease, manifestations characteristic of that disease are added.

Pharyngitis, the symptoms of which we indicated above, is treated depending on the type. To select therapy, the result of a pharyngeal smear is necessary. If the disease is mild and the problem is a virus, and in about 70% of cases this is the case, it is quite possible that you can get rid of it with mild medications, folk methods and a gentle diet. It is recommended to drink a lot of liquid; spicy, sour, hot, cold, anything that irritates the mucous membrane is contraindicated.

In serious or advanced cases, viral pharyngitis can be complicated by bacterial pharyngitis - and then antibiotic therapy in the form of tablets, lozenges, inhalations and/or rinses is required.

Lozenges, such as Faringosept, Septolete, Strepsils, help with mild forms of the disease, but you should not get carried away with them because of some toxic components of the composition, for example, chlorhexidine.

Sprays used for treatment include Ingalipt, Tantum Verde, Cameton, Givalex and others. The inhalation antibiotic Bioparox has a combined antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect. Aerosol or rinse solution Hexoral fights bacteria and fungi. The drug Imudon stimulates the body's defenses against throat diseases.

Often, medications contain many components, including hyperallergenic ones. Study the components carefully. The chronic form of pharyngitis occurs in many people. It proceeds more easily and does not cause a critical deterioration in well-being. The symptoms are:

  • dryness, soreness, “lump” in the throat;
  • obsessive desire to clear the throat, cough;
  • irritability caused by the need to constantly swallow mucus accumulating in the throat;
  • bad dream.

Methods and principles of application

Due to its beneficial properties, sea buckthorn oil is used for inhalation, gargling, and lubricating the tonsils, for example. However, it is important to remember that before using the product in any form, you must first consult with your doctor so as not to harm your own health.

Rinsing

It is recommended to resort to this procedure if you have severe pain in the throat. The solution should not be hot, its maximum permissible temperature is 50 degrees, otherwise the liquid will irritate the mucous membrane.

To make a solution for rinsing, sea buckthorn oil should be diluted in sunflower or olive oil in a ratio of 1:10. The frequency of rinsing should be at least 5 times a day, and the duration of one procedure should be at least a minute. To enhance the effect, you can add juice from several cloves of garlic, and replace the water with a herbal decoction, such as chamomile.

Lubrication

Pure sea buckthorn oil is used for lubrication. It is applied directly to the damaged parts of the throat and tonsils using a cotton swab. This promotes speedy recovery from sore throat and pharyngitis. Purulent lacunae resolve faster and the damaged throat heals.

Inhalations

Inhalations with sea buckthorn oil are one of the most effective options for its use. To prepare the solution, you will need to dilute 6 drops of oil in half a liter of boiling water. Then cover the head with a towel and inhale the vapors of the resulting solution for at least 15 minutes. It is recommended to carry out the procedure at least three times a day.

The simplest treatment option for pharyngitis is to lubricate the throat with oil, however, this procedure alone will only help at the initial stage of the development of a cold. Later, when an inflammatory process appears, it is advisable to add inhalations to the therapy. They are carried out no earlier than 6 hours after lubrication.

Rinse

Rinsing is the most common and effective application.

To prepare the drug, you will need to mix peach oil (5 drops) and 1 tsp. honey Dissolve the resulting mass in 1 tbsp. warm water. Gargle up to 5 times a day.

This option of using peach oil for pharyngitis allows you to get rid of the inflammatory process and reduce pain. For laryngitis, the remedy will help to quickly restore your voice, removing swelling from the vocal cords, and eliminate dry cough, tickling and pain when swallowing.

Pharmaceutical preparations based on sea buckthorn for pharyngitis

On sale you can find both sea buckthorn oil itself and many drugs for the treatment of pharyngitis, which contain this ingredient as the main or additional active ingredient.

The most popular of them is pharyngospray. This herbal medicine is a spray that reduces irritation and inflammation of the mucous membrane of the throat. In addition to sea buckthorn oil, the product also contains bergamot and calendula extract. Due to its structure, the medicine seems to cover the mucous membrane with an oily film, which does not allow germs to penetrate there, and also reduces discomfort in the throat.

You can also find an aerosol with sea buckthorn oil and calendula. It helps cope with throat inflammation at the initial stage, reducing discomfort and improving overall well-being. The product is sprayed directly onto the affected surface of the throat.

The drug Oralgin is similar in its composition and action. It contains bergamot, calendula and sea buckthorn oil. This spray helps moisturize the mucous membrane of the throat, mechanically washes away pathogens from it, increases local immunity and reduces inflammation a little. This product has virtually no contraindications, except for allergies to any of the components. Caution should be used when used on children.

In addition, there are many different biological supplements containing sea buckthorn, which are suitable for general strengthening of the body and the prevention of colds.

It is important to remember that only the attending physician can choose the most effective and safe remedy.

Features of the use of sea buckthorn oil in children

The product is natural, so it can also be used to treat children, but only those who are already 2 years old or more. Before doing this, it is advisable to consult a pediatrician and make sure that the baby is not allergic to the product.

To determine in advance the baby’s reaction to sea buckthorn, it is enough to conduct a small test. To do this, apply 2–3 drops to the child’s wrist or elbow. If after 15 minutes the skin has not reacted in any way - no rash, itching, redness, or hives have appeared, then sea buckthorn oil is absolutely safe for the baby.

For children, sea buckthorn oil can be used to rinse the mouth, as compresses, apply the oil itself as an ointment, and to cleanse the nose.

The rinse solution is prepared from a teaspoon of oil added to a glass of water. After the procedure, you cannot eat or drink for half an hour.

To make a clean compress, apply a little onto gauze. The throat is lubricated with moisturizing cream, and then gauze with the composition is applied to it. The whole thing is wrapped in polyethylene, and then wrapped with a warm scarf on top. The procedure time is 1.5 hours, it is advisable to do the procedure at night.

In some cases, for example, with pharyngitis and sore throat, it is advisable to apply the oil directly to the mucous membrane of the throat and tonsils. This is done using sterile gauze. To improve the effectiveness of the procedure, it is advisable to first rinse your throat with a slightly salted solution.

The product in its pure form can be instilled into the nose. In this case, the baby's head should be thrown back. It is permissible to instill 2 drops at a time. The frequency of the procedure should not exceed twice a day.

Also, pure is of little use for inhalation if you pour it into a special device - a nebulizer. You need to do this procedure for a couple of minutes twice a day.

Recipes based on sea buckthorn for the treatment of pathology

Traditional medicine offers many formulations with sea buckthorn oil to treat a sore throat. Below are some popular recipes.

Berry oil

Sea buckthorn oil is sold in pharmacies, but if desired, you can make it yourself. To do this, you will need to collect fresh berries and pass them through a meat grinder several times. It is also suitable to grind sea buckthorn in a blender. The finished mass is placed in a closed glass container in the refrigerator for several days. Soon an oil film will appear on the surface of the mixture, which is collected with a pipette. The finished oil is stored in the refrigerator in a dark glass bottle. Before use, the composition must be warmed to room temperature or higher.

The simplest option

If the disease is not advanced, it can be cured simply by periodically holding a teaspoon of oil in the mouth. In this case, the temperature of the product should be 30 - 40 degrees. The oil remains in the mouth for a few minutes and is then spat out. Several procedures will be required per day. Their quantity should be chosen based on the patient’s well-being.

Ingestion

A teaspoon of the product taken orally will help with a severe cough and hoarseness of voice. The oily emulsion will coat the mucous membrane of the larynx and will not allow new pathogens to enter it, and will also reduce surface irritation. 2-3 doses per day are enough.

Honey and oil

For chronic pharyngitis or simply for severe sore throat, prepare the following composition: add a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of sea buckthorn oil to a glass of hot water. All this is stirred and drunk in small sips. The procedure must be repeated three times a day.

Treatment of pharyngitis with folk remedies

Traditional medicine for the treatment of pharyngitis
Traditional medicine for the treatment of pharyngitis

It is easy to get rid of many diseases without medications using alternative treatment methods. They have a wide spectrum of action, have a minimum of contraindications and almost do not cause unwanted reactions.

Pharyngitis can be treated with folk remedies using methods that act locally or systemically. Methods of local treatment include rinses, compresses, and medications for lubricating the larynx. They act directly on inflammation and form the basis of therapy.

Systemic effects are exerted by means for internal use that improve mucus discharge, eliminate cough and remove toxins. They are allowed to be used only if there is no allergy to the components of the medications.

The choice of treatment depends on the manifestations of the disease. It is permissible to combine several recipes at the same time, for example, alternating lubricating the throat with inhalations and herbal infusions.

Precautionary rules:

  1. Traditional medicine does not always replace medications, especially in advanced cases.
  2. Combining tablets and oral medications is permissible after consultation with a specialist - they can react, causing dangerous consequences.
  3. Observe the exact quantities of ingredients.
  4. Use quality raw materials.
  5. Choose 2-3 recipes; more than that is hazardous to health.

It should be noted that therapy with folk remedies requires more time than traditional medicine. These methods are suitable for patients with allergies to medications and young children. If adults have developed chronic pharyngitis, then the number of pills taken can be reduced.
