Ear pain in children: causes and treatment

Otitis in children

Almost every child experiences swelling, inflammation and infection in the ear. According to statistics, in the first year of life, 60% of babies get sick at least once, 25% more than three times, and almost 40% suffer from a chronic form.

This is an unbearable, shooting pain that children and their parents can hardly withstand. An immature immune system, seasonal decreases in defenses, attacking bacteria and viruses are the main causes of the disease.

Frequent inflammations and infections in childhood are also explained by the fact that the Eustachian tubes are not yet fully formed. They are short and narrow, located almost horizontally. This makes it difficult for fluid to drain out of the middle ear and causes frequent acute infections.

The goal of treatment is to prevent fluid from accumulating, creating a favorable environment for the development of pathogenic microorganisms.

Traditional pediatrics for the treatment of ear infections suggest antibacterial drugs in combination with pain and fever medications.

But frequent and uncontrolled use of antibiotics contributes to the development of candidiasis or increases the chance of bacteria becoming resistant to these drugs. Thus, the child becomes a permanent carrier of Streptococcus pneumoniae, a microorganism that causes most inflammatory pathologies.

Complications

In childhood, otitis media takes quite a long time to be treated; the therapeutic course lasts at least a month. Worried parents or grandparents may interrupt treatment without thinking about the consequences:

  • hearing loss and hearing loss negatively affect the development of speech and intelligence in a child;
  • pus can damage the eardrum;
  • acute otitis media can develop into a chronic form of the disease;
  • meningitis;
  • facial paralysis;
  • mastoiditis.

Otitis media can be cured, but stopping treatment or delaying contact with an otolaryngologist can cause complications. Hearing loss will lead to isolation and psychological problems in the future.

Principles of Alternative Treatment

Homeopaths say that with an acute ear infection, antibiotics are not always required. It is enough to use a suitable natural preparation so that within a day the baby’s condition will significantly improve.

A properly selected remedy mobilizes the defenses and eradicates the cause of the disease. And what is important: the drugs are completely safe even for weakened small patients. They can be used with other medications prescribed for the child.

But when treating diseases of the middle ear, you need to take into account that there are two situations:

  1. Purulent otitis, with inflammation and bacterial infection in the middle ear cavity. The pain is sharp, shooting. The temperature rises to 39 °C, and purulent contents drain from the ear. The eardrum is damaged. May cause deafness and intracranial complications. Children of all ages get sick.
  2. Aseptic (exudative) otitis media is a violation of the outflow of fluid in the middle ear without pronounced inflammation. Accompanied by moderate pain and low-grade fever. The eardrum is not damaged, but over time the child’s hearing acuity decreases. As a rule, children from 3 to 7 years old are affected.

Treatment of purulent inflammation without taking antibiotics is impossible. Self-medication is also excluded. For otitis in a child, homeopathy is allowed to be used only after appropriate examination and appointment by a specialist!

Homeopathy for various types of otitis media

Traditional medicine uses antibiotics to treat otitis media, which have a negative effect on the body, especially when it comes to children. The use of these drugs is justified only for the bacterial form of the disease.

If the inflammation in the ear is caused by other reasons, antibiotics do nothing but harm. The ideal solution to the problem in this case would be homeopathy. The action of such drugs is aimed not only at relieving the symptoms of the disease, but also at eliminating its cause. Homeopathic remedies are selected depending on the type of otitis media.

Otitis externa

This type of disease is characterized by the development of inflammation in the external auditory system. It may occur due to inflammation of the hair follicle in the ear canal. In this case we are talking about limited external otitis. The diffuse form of the disease affects the entire ear canal.

Homeopathic medicines stop the inflammatory process and relieve discomfort in the auricle. Patients return to their normal pace of life in the shortest possible time.

Average, acute and chronic otitis

The choice of homeopathic remedies for these types of otitis depends primarily on the symptoms. Doctors take into account the etiology of the disease, the rate of inflammation, the presence of discharge from the auricle and the nature of the pain.

Homeopathy for deafness

Decreased hearing acuity is associated with prolonged exposure to noise, genetic disorders, injuries, taking ototoxic drugs, and neurological diseases.

Homeopathy has no medicine for those who are deaf from birth. However, if a person has become completely or partially deaf due to weak neurological activity of the auditory analyzer or for any other reason, he can be cured or improve the perception of sound with the following medications.

Phosphorus . The main medicine for all types of deafness. Used when there is ringing and noise in the ears, an echo is heard.

China . When deafness is a consequence of loss of vital body fluids. Used in case of ringing in the ears.

GRAPHITES, SULPHUR, SILICEA and DULCAMARA are used as additional products.

Features of homeopathic treatment

Despite the proven effectiveness of homeopathy, many people remain skeptical about this method of treatment.

The principle of homeopathy is to treat like with like. That is, to treat otitis media, it is necessary to artificially create in the body the same symptoms as the disease. The dosages of homeopathic medicines are reduced many times, so they cannot cause harm to the body.

However, when it comes to a child, many parents turn to homeopathy for help. Such remedies are no worse than antibiotics in helping to relieve pain and eliminate the inflammatory process. At the same time, the child’s body does not receive a “portion” of antibiotics, which have a lot of side effects.

The principle of selection of homeopathic remedies depends on the clinical manifestations of otitis media and the personal characteristics of the patient. The homeopathic doctor selects the dosage individually in each specific case. In this case, the specialist can ask not only about the manifestations of otitis media, but also about the behavioral characteristics of the person. The fact is that homeopathy is a comprehensive approach, aimed not at the banal elimination of symptoms, but at finding and treating the causes that caused the disease.

Weak dosages of medicines used in homeopathy boost immunity, increase the body's resistance to the causative agent of the disease, and eliminate its cause.

Homeopathy for otitis of the left ear in adults

OTITIS

Homeopathic therapy is used for the following types of otitis:

  • catarrhal otitis;
  • purulent otitis media that occurs after paracentesis or spontaneous discharge of pus;
  • recurrent otitis, which is a clinical manifestation of a special type of constitution.

INFLAMMATORY OTITIS

Inflammatory otitis often occurs as a complication after influenza or nasopharyngitis.

Upon examination, it is revealed that the eardrum is filled with blood, red or pinkish-white, glossy and compacted in its lower anterior part.

Lesions of the cavity are characterized by the disappearance of the ability to reflect light by the eardrum and swelling of the upper posterior region of the ear. Such a clinical manifestation of otitis indicates that the disease should be treated only by a specialist, an ENT doctor, and as soon as possible. Treatment of this lesion is not covered in this chapter.

The vast majority of cases of inflammatory otitis can be treated homeopathically, since their clinical manifestations (modalities) correspond to six homeopathic remedies.

BELLADONNA - Throbbing pain due to local stagnation of blood. High temperature, appearing suddenly and sharply, often interspersed with cerebral hyperemia; profuse sweating, hypersensitivity to noise, shocks, touch, general exhaustion, exhaustion.

Prescribed in a potency of 7 or 9 CH (depending on the measure of similarity) in the form of tubes with a uniform dose every two to six hours.

CAPSICUM - Experimentally, this remedy acts selectively on the bones of the ear and the mastoid process, so that it causes and cures painful inflammation in the area behind the ears, which is very sensitive to the touch and is accompanied by tearing, burning pains.

Pain radiating to the mastoid process is a clear indication for the use of this remedy.

Prescribe 5 globules in the 5 CH potency every two to six hours.

FERRUM PHOSPHORICUM - Experimentally has a selective effect on the ears and bronchi. The patient may experience vasomotor facial flushing with alternating pallor and redness, sometimes with nosebleeds.

Prescribed only once daily in the 9 CH potency. Dr. Rousson warned that low potencies, too frequently prescribed, may aggravate acute attacks of congestion in otitis media.

CHAMOMILLA - Indicated for hypersensitive children or adults who cannot tolerate pain. Babies or young children who are teething fit this profile exactly. They cry, scream, behave restlessly; They calm down only when they are picked up or taken for a walk. All symptoms worsen in the evening between 21:00 and midnight.

Prescribe 5 globules in potency 9 or 15 CH when pain or anxiety occurs.

ARSENICUM ALBUM - Prescribed for burning pain that occurs at night, mainly between 1 and 3 am. Improvement - when applying hot compresses. The patient is greatly exhausted by his illness, but at the same time restless, agitated, anxious and afraid.

Prescribe 5 globules in potency 7 or 9 CH. Depending on the presence of such a sign as night exacerbation of symptoms, the drug should be taken for about 18 hours.

OSCILLOCOCCINUM 200 - The presence of a large number of amino acids in the original substance of this drug and, consequently, the rich content of DNA and RNA in it explain the amazing and permanent effect of this drug in the treatment of viral diseases (influenza, nasopharyngitis, etc.) and their complications.

Approximate treatment regimen for inflammatory otitis media

Prescribe 1 tube of a standardized dose of OSCILLOCOCCINUM 200 when otalgia appears, and then take 1 tube of a standardized dose in the morning for the next four days (5 tubes of a standardized dose in total).

Every day, before bed, for five days, take 1 tube of a standardized dose of FERRUM PHOSPHORICUM 9 CH (5 tubes in total).

During the day (during the same treatment period), take alternating every one to two hours (the frequency of doses depends on the severity of symptoms), 5 globules of BELLADONNA 7 CH and 5 globules of CAPSICUM ANNUM 5 CH.

As an external treatment, drop 6 drops of GLYCERINE BORATE or GLYCERINE + PEROXIDE into each ear in the morning and evening.

Purulent otitis media

After paracentesis or spontaneous drainage of pus, the above drugs can be prescribed, provided that the patient’s clinical response methods correspond to the pathogenetic modalities of these drugs. However, in most cases, the clinical responses of patients are similar to the pathogenesis of the following drugs:

PYROGENIUM - This drug has the property of stopping suppuration, especially if the pus has a foul, disgusting smell. A sign such as a serious deterioration in the patient’s general health is not necessary for prescribing this drug. The 5 CH potency is generally the most reliable.

AURUM METALLICUM - Indicated for suppuration in the area of the short bones of the ear, prescribe 5 globules in a potency of 7 CH once a day.

SILICEA - This is a remedy for the treatment of chronic, prolonged suppuration.

It excellently eliminates suppuration in cases of acute or subacute suppurative process, if prescribed in high potencies:

four increasing doses to eliminate suppuration in the case of acute suppurative otitis or 5 globules of 15 CH once or twice a day in the case of chronic suppuration (see the chapter “Abscesses and suppurative processes”).

Points for and against

Traditional medicine specialists have long been divided into two camps. Some consider homeopathy a successful addition and even an alternative to traditional treatment, while others categorically do not accept this method, considering it ineffective. Nevertheless, homeopathy continues to convince us that its effect on the body is extremely beneficial, and many diseases respond well to its treatment. The following arguments speak in favor of homeopathy for otitis media:

  • after administration, a large percentage of cure is achieved;
  • the immune system is activated;
  • simultaneous use of homeopathy and traditional medications reduces the aggressive effect of the latter;
  • homeopathic remedies have no side effects;
  • the ability to replace strong antibiotics with natural remedies without posing a threat to health.

If otitis media does not develop into complications, it can be completely cured with homeopathy. It is important to consider that more severe forms require antibacterial therapy. Homeopathic medicines in this case can only relieve attacks of pain.

If a patient is diagnosed with purulent otitis media, it is not recommended to seek help from alternative treatment methods. If this condition is accompanied by sharp acute pain, it is necessary to get an appointment with an otolaryngologist as soon as possible, who will prescribe the appropriate treatment based on the clinical picture.

The effect of homeopathic remedies on the body

According to data obtained through numerous trials, homeopathy really works.

Double-blind studies were conducted in which neither the specialist nor the patient knew what the latter was taking. This is done to eliminate the placebo effect. The result of the treatment was positive. In addition, the experiments involved domestic animals that are not susceptible to either suggestion or self-hypnosis regarding the medications they are taking. And in this case, homeopathy worked.

Some experts prescribe homeopathic remedies even for infants.

The main differences between traditional medicine and homeopathy:

traditional medicine treats the disease, soft medicine treats the patient; a homeopathy specialist interviews the patient in detail for two to three hours, finding out not only complaints and symptoms of the disease, but also the person’s character, lifestyle, and habits. This is the only way to understand the nature of the disease and choose the right treatment; Traditional medicines not only eliminate symptoms, but also affect the entire organ, the entire system, and even the entire body, causing a lot of side effects, which then also have to be treated. Sometimes treatment for side effects takes longer and is more expensive than treatment for the underlying disease. Homeopathic remedies do not interfere with the functionality of organs and systems. They act softly, delicately, and therefore are safe for health. These drugs do not contain aggressive chemicals, but only natural ones. They work at the energy-informational level, and not at the physical level.

Homeopathy differs from herbal medicine in the concentration of the main substance in the drug and the principles of prescription

Classification

today there are medicines prepared in pharmacies using classical technologies; high dilution drugs; phyto-homeopathic remedies combine high concentrations of some substances and high dilutions of other ingredients; Homotoxicological agents (nosodes) resemble a vaccine. For their production, substances and elements obtained from diseased organs or from the secretions of a sick person or animal are used. These substances are detoxified using a special method, after which they become safe for humans.

Drugs and substances used

Homeopathic treatment of otitis makes it possible to use natural remedies, without steroids and other substances hazardous to health that are contained in antibiotics. Alternative medicine offers many drugs that are effectively used in the treatment of various forms of otitis media. Such means include:

  • Belladonna.
  • Hamomilla.
  • Apis.
  • Aconite.
  • Onion compress.
  • Pulsatilla.
  • Magnesia phosphorica and many others.

Thus, many types of otitis media are treated using homeopathic remedies. However, it is important to remember that self-prescription of homeopathic remedies is unacceptable.

Medical supervision is necessary in any case. In addition, homeopathy remedies have some contraindications.

Homeopathy for ear pain

Pain in the ears is usually eliminated with the help of pharmaceutical products. Often, they have many contraindications, for example, some medications cannot be used by pregnant, lactating women and small children. For ear pathology, the herbal treatment method has been used for a long time. In a child, homeopathy for otitis media can reduce the signs of the disease and affect overall well-being.

Herbal remedies to combat clinical signs of inflammation in the ear.

  1. Aconite. The drug contains an infusion of the aconite plant, diluted in accordance with a special technique. Available in the form of plastic bottles. This drug is relevant at the stage of development of the disease. The drug is used for influenza, acute respiratory infections, viral diseases, pneumonia, runny nose, acute otitis media. Aconite is suitable for treatment of both children and adults.
  2. Belladonna. A preparation based on belladonna extract, diluted with the required amount of liquid. The product is available in the form of granules. The medicine is used to cure ear diseases in children with reddened ears and tympanic membranes. Effectively eliminates painful sensations that are usually sharp and shooting. Belladonna is not used if the ear pain lasts more than 3 days.
  3. Ferrum forsphoricum. This remedy is used at the stages of pathology development, when the intensity of the symptoms is low and the development of the disease is slow. Painful spasms are felt in the left ear. The product is available in tablet form. The composition of the medicine includes potassium chloratum, ferrum forsphoricum, potassium sulfuricum.
  4. Gepar sulphur. This medicine includes crushed oyster shells and fine sulfur powder. The drug is relevant for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, otitis media, colds, furunculosis, gout. The product is available in the form of granules.
  5. Mercurius. This remedy is used to cure children with chronic ear inflammations and severe spasms in the ears. The drug is also relevant for lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, diseases of the oral cavity, and sore throats. The medicine contains mercury and its black oxide. The product is available in the form of small granules.
  6. Pulsatilla. This medication is widely used to combat ear infections; they are prescribed when pain in the hearing organ begins after the baby is wet or frozen. The composition contains diluted homeopathic raw materials pulsatilla, purified petroleum jelly, sucrose. The medicine is produced in the form of crushed granules.
  7. Mullein oil. It is used as an external remedy by placing a couple of drops of tincture or oil directly into the ear. The medication is used in combination with other homeopathic remedies. When the baby feels pain, a feeling of congestion in the hearing organ, this remedy will be effective.

For ear inflammation, herbal preparations are widely used as an auxiliary method in the fight against pathology. It is recommended to combine this method of therapy with traditional medicine. In this way, it will be possible to enhance the effect of the treatment, and recovery will come faster. When a child or adult has pain behind the ear, homeopathy will also be effective in this case. Herbal infusions will help relieve swelling and inflammation.

The child's ears hurt. Homeopathy will help

Regular ear pain in children over one year of age is one of the most common problems when parents turn to a homeopath for help. “We often hear complaints: we have tried all possible medications, used countless antibiotics, but the child continues to complain of ear pain. Homeopathy uses gentle remedies, natural preparations that stimulate the body to heal itself. The sooner you start treatment, the better the results,” says homeopath Anna Kalke.

Ear pain is a common symptom

Ear pain is very painful, especially for young children. According to statistics, three quarters of children under three years of age have suffered acute inflammation of the middle ear at least once, and in more than a third of children this infectious disease recurs. In addition, acute inflammation of the middle ear occurs in 90% of children under the age of seven. This disease has, unfortunately, become an everyday occurrence for homeopathic doctors. “Doctors constantly remind the parents of a sick child about the need to strengthen his immunity, but none of them tells him how to do this. Family doctors, wanting to help the patient, recommend purchasing at the pharmacy some natural immunity-strengthening drug, which certainly will not cause harm, but will not bring the expected effect, says A. Kalke.

A homeopath is a doctor who conducts a very detailed assessment of the child’s general health and selects medications according to the individual characteristics of the body. These drugs really strengthen the immune system, help normalize body functions and get rid of painful symptoms, explains A. Kalke.

Individual approach to each child

As you know, strong immunity is the key to health. Immunity is the body’s ability to resist external pathogens. This ability manifests itself when a dynamic balance of functions of all body systems is achieved. The balance of functions depends on many factors - nutrition, daily routine, sleep, the child’s physique and other characteristics of the body and lifestyle. The homeopathic doctor, having carefully assessed these factors, prescribes medications for each child individually to strengthen the immune system. For example, a child whose body is exposed to damp, cold weather, changing seasons, is prescribed one drug, a child of a fragile build with enlarged lymph nodes is prescribed another drug. A chubby, round-cheeked child with many small lymph nodes also receives individual treatment.

Patients of homeopathic doctors are less susceptible to colds

Both homeopathic doctors and their patients are convinced that homeopathy helps to avoid colds. A child attending kindergarten, thanks to homeopathic medicines, successfully resists many viral diseases that break out in kindergartens. “Homeopathic medicines are not some kind of miracle cure. They regulate body functions, helping to maintain a stable state and resist pathogens. If the tonsils and nasopharynx are in order, there is no chronic runny nose, then there is no place for the infection to “catch on” and develop. Therefore, the child does not get sick. Of course, a child attending kindergarten may develop a slight cough or runny nose, as children inevitably exchange microflora. However, such infections or viruses do not develop and manifest themselves in a mild form, the symptoms quickly disappear,” says A. Kalke.

Natural hardening of the body

Along with visits to a homeopath, procedures for hardening the child’s body should be carried out. Hardening should be carried out when the child is completely healthy. It is best to start procedures in the summer. Swimming in cool water, playing in the hot sun, swimming again... This change of activities is a very effective way to stimulate the endocrine system and improve the child's health.

Back in the 19th century, the famous physiotherapist S. Kneipp discovered that cold water and the use of contrasting water temperatures perfectly stimulate the activity of the adrenal glands, as a result of which the body increases the production of anti-inflammatory hormones and increases resistance to disease. Such procedures are recommended not only for children. They are also useful for adults, especially people over 30-35 years old, since at this age the activity of the adrenal glands begins to decrease. Hardening procedures should be carried out without coercion, gradually increasing their intensity. If you decide to take a contrast shower, then the water temperature should be reduced gradually, gradually moving from warm to cold water.

About homeopathy

• The basic principle of homeopathy is “treat like with like.” In practice, this means using small doses of drugs to treat a disease that, in larger doses, cause symptoms of the disease. Therefore, very small doses of medicines are used in homeopathy.

• The foundations of homeopathy were laid in 1796, when the German physician H.F. Samuel Hahnemann first introduced the world to his teachings. A homeopathic pharmacy in Riga has existed since 1833. Most of the drugs offered by the pharmacy are manufactured locally.

• Homeopathic medicines do not cause side effects; they are safe for everyone - infants, young children, pregnant women and the elderly.

• In some cases, at the beginning of treatment with homeopathy, an exacerbation of the disease is observed, which usually passes quickly. A short-term increase in symptoms means that the choice of medication was correct.

If your illness is not serious, for example, you have a cold, the Homeopathic Pharmacy will offer you remedies to improve your well-being. The sooner treatment is started, the faster the recovery will occur. In case of serious illness, consultation with a homeopathic doctor will be required. The doctor may prescribe several homeopathic medicines with different durations of action, and will also tell you what to do if your health condition improves or, conversely, worsens. Only a homeopath can tell you what to do in case of various manifestations of the disease. Therefore, before consuming medicines, you should consult a homeopathic doctor.

Where can I buy homeopathic medicines?

• Homeopathic remedies can be purchased at the Homeopathic Pharmacy. There are two of them in Riga - on Lačpleša Street 7-2 and on Bikernieku Street 12. Here you can also find various herbal teas, nutritional supplements, and cosmetics based on natural substances. The majority of drugs are manufactured locally, using manual labor. • Homeopathic medicines can also be purchased in pharmacies located in other cities of Latvia. Unreasonable use of medications is harmful to health. Nutritional supplements do not replace a complete and balanced diet.

Medicinal plants in homeopathy for otitis media

Treatment of ear pathology with herbs provides many benefits. For example, their availability and ease of use. Homeopathy does not eliminate ear pain as quickly as painkillers, but they are much gentler.

  1. Meadow parsnip. The plant is used for pain in the ear, aggression, and dizziness.
  2. Metal. Plants act on the endocrine glands and relieve severe pain.
  3. Dubrovnik is real. Relevant for polyps, nasal congestion, ear pain.
  4. Turpentine. Has a healing effect, treats inflammatory processes.
  5. Tiss. The plant is used for ear pain accompanied by discharge from the hearing organs.
  6. Dandelion. The plant is indicated for headaches and ear pain. Effectively eliminates inflammation and relieves swelling.

Causes of ear pain in children

Ear diseases:

  • otitis media;
  • external and internal otitis media;
  • eustachitis;
  • mastoiditis.

Other reasons:

  • sinusitis;
  • scarlet fever;
  • measles;
  • colds, acute respiratory viral infections, acute respiratory infections;
  • lymphadenitis;
  • parotitis;
  • trigeminal neuralgia;
  • increased intracranial and blood pressure;
  • cerebrovascular accident;
  • adenoiditis;
  • sulfur plug;
  • tumor.

The cause of pain in the ear can be a foreign body, bruise or insect bite (cockroach, tick). With some diseases, pain can radiate to the child’s ear, with sore throat, sinusitis, dental disease, mumps.

Little girls often have their ears pierced. Incorrectly selected earrings can provoke an inflammatory process, which will cause pain in the organ.

In an airplane, during a rapid ascent, the pressure in the eardrum does not have time to equalize. Chewing and swallowing movements usually equalize the pressure, but if there are problems with the patency of the auditory tube, equalization does not occur. Excessive tension on the eardrum causes pain.

Otitis media

In young children, the Eustachian tube connecting the nasopharynx and ear is short and wide. A small channel equalizes the pressure on either side of the eardrum. It is through the Eustachian tube that microbes penetrate, causing inflammation of the ears. Weak protection of the functions of the mucous membranes, frequent colds, the appearance of adenoids are signs of otitis media. In a one-year-old child and in older children, acute otitis media occurs as a result of a cold or hypothermia; it develops against the background of an infectious process in the nasopharynx. Therefore, during illness, snot, sore throat, cough, and a feeling that the ear is stuffy and shooting are noted.

The defeat can be unilateral or bilateral. Inflammation of the eardrum leads to hearing impairment, sometimes there is no audibility.

Important! If otitis media is not treated in time, the inflammation will spread to the inner ear, and the disease can develop into a chronic form.

External inflammation

It is often asymptomatic. The pain is minor, the baby’s temperature is normal. A small amount of infiltrate is found in the external auditory canal, and the quality of hearing may decrease. Removing the abscess solves the problem with sound transmission. Otitis externa can be a consequence of unsuccessful ear cleaning or water entering the ear canal during bathing. Signs of infection of the outer ear may include a rash on the skin, redness of the external ear canal, or discharge from the ear. Used for treatment: antibacterial drops, ointments, antiseptics.

Review of drugs from the homeopathy group

Homeopathic remedies include medicinal plants. Before starting therapy, you need to familiarize yourself with the principle of action of the drugs.

Agnus Cosmoplex S

This drug is a complex antihomotoxic drug. The medication is available in the form of suppositories of 12 pieces in a special container. Agnus Cosmoplex C can be used during pregnancy only as prescribed by a doctor. The drug contains the active ingredients Hepar Sulfuris, Daphne, Lilium lancifolium and others. Solid fat acts as an auxiliary component. The medication activates the body's protective functions, has anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and bactericidal effects. The medicine also helps restore damaged mucous membranes. Thanks to the effect of this drug, mucus production stops. It should be noted that at the beginning of therapy, heavy discharge from the ears is possible. Agnus Cosmoplex S is relevant for inflammatory diseases of the mucous membrane.

Anaferon

The active components of the product are purified human interferon gamma antibodies, a mixture of homeopathic substances C12, C200, C30, available in the form of tablets. This drug is classified as a homeopathic remedy with an antiviral and immunostimulating effect. Due to the effect of the drug, the level of antibodies increases and interferon is formed. These properties provide rapid relief of signs of otitis media, and the risk of bacterial infection is reduced. When using antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drugs simultaneously with this drug, its dose should be reduced.

Viburkol

The drug contains Atropa bella-donna D2, Matricaria recutita D1 and others; solid fat is used as an excipient.
The product is available in the form of candles. This is a complex homeopathic medicine that has analgesic, sedative, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. A homeopathic remedy is indicated for hyperthermia, nervous overexcitation, and inflammatory processes. Homeopathy for otitis media is not aimed at combating inflammatory processes, but at relieving symptoms. It is impossible to be treated only with this method, as complications may arise. Ear inflammation often leads to deafness, both temporary and chronic.

Treatment for a child's ear pain

First aid

Before the doctor arrives, you can alleviate the baby’s suffering:

  • need bed rest;
  • the child must be reassured before any procedure;
  • for fever, antipyretic medications are given;
  • a vasodilator drug is instilled into the nose;
  • give a pain reliever;
  • add 2-3 drops of a warm solution of boric acid to the ear;
  • if an insect gets into the ear, you can pour a little vegetable oil into the ear canal; if the insect does not come out, go to the pediatrician;
  • the child is turned on his side, with the diseased organ facing the pillow;
  • There is no need to feed the baby, chewing movements will increase the pain;
  • If one of the baby's ears hurts, they carry him in his arms, pressing this ear to his chest.

Otitis media can be caused by bacteria or fungi. The medications in this case are different; there are medications with complex effects. Homeopathy is effective at all stages of otitis media.

Antibacterial drugs are prescribed for any otitis media; the disease can cause serious consequences; drops alone will not help. The entire course of antibiotics should be completed, even if there is no pain. Inadequate therapy can lead to chronic disease. The therapeutic course is at least 7-10 days.

Ear drops (Otipax, Anauran, Candibiotic, Sofradex, Otinum, Otofa, Tsipromed) are dripped only in the absence of discharge from the auricle. Released pus may indicate damage to the eardrum; administration of any liquid is prohibited. Place 3 drops of the product in the ear; to do this, place the child on his side for 10 minutes. Then close the passage in the ear with a cotton swab. The French drug Otipax is approved for use even by newborns; it is also prescribed during pregnancy.

Attention! Medicines are used only as prescribed by a doctor and according to the instructions!

Dolphin nasal drops help constrict blood vessels, relieve swelling and pain. Polydex - antibacterial nasal drops (rhinitis, sinusitis), treat inflammation, kill infection. The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

If a child has an earache due to a common cold, antiviral drugs are prescribed.

Relieving fever and pain: Ibuprofen, Nurofen, Paracetomol.

Sometimes treatment of otitis requires the use of antiallergic drugs. Warming the ear helps with otitis media. A warm compress is placed on the diseased organ; for older children, a tampon soaked in a solution of boric alcohol (3%) is inserted.

In the hospital, ear blowing, pneumomassage of the eardrum, and catheterization of the auditory tube are used.

If there is a suspicion that there is a foreign object in the baby’s ear canal, you should shine a flashlight and carefully examine the ear. To avoid damaging the eardrum, it is better to take your child to a specialist to correct the problem.
