- Vasoconstrictors. They have a number of tasks:
- reduce inflammation and swelling of the mucous membrane;
- increase the lumen of the nostrils and aeration of the maxillary sinuses;
- promote the removal of mucus.
This is the main component, since its functions allow other substances to reach the source of inflammation and begin to fight the infection.

- Antibiotics, the purpose of which is to fight the pathogen, are necessary when the sinuses are affected by pathogenic flora. Signals for their need are:
- the release of purulent exudate, characterized by a sharp unpleasant odor;
- exacerbation of sinusitis;
- green slime.
Complex drugs may include the following antibacterial components: gentamicin, cefazolin, streptomycin, ceftriaxone, dioxidine.
- Glucocorticosteroid (hormonal) elements have the ability to narrow capillaries, relieve swelling and inflammation, and reduce allergic reactions. They are used both for allergic rhinitis and for infectious processes occurring in the nose. Hydrocortisone or Nasonex may be used.

How to put nasal drops correctly
When treating inflammation of the maxillary sinuses with drops, they should be properly instilled into the nose. To get the desired effect, you must first rinse with water and sea salt. Then carry out the following actions:
- lay the patient on his side;
- tilt their head back slightly;
- drop 3 drops of medicine into the nasal passage;
- let sit for a minute;
- shift to the other side;
- repeat the procedure.
To make it easier to administer medications into the nose, sprays are used instead of drops for sinusitis. Their use does not require the patient to lie down: the procedure can be done standing or sitting. The bottle has a dispenser: the required portion of the medicine gets into the nose; you just need to inject it. Thanks to its finely dispersed structure, the drug very quickly relieves inflammation and swelling. Recovery occurs in a short time.

Modern treatment of sinusitis suggests the use of homeopathy. The preparations are based on natural medicinal plants in small dosages. Homeopathic remedies have virtually no contraindications. Treatment can be carried out on children and adults. A homeopathic doctor prescribes medications for sinusitis, taking into account the patient’s health condition and physiological characteristics.
Due to the low concentration of the active substance, it takes longer to completely cure. Homeopathic remedies increase immunity, destroy harmful microorganisms, and improve the separation of pus and mucus. The drugs show high effectiveness in chronic sinusitis. Popular:

Symptoms and causes of the disease
Rhinitis is an inflammation of the nasal mucosa . If this inflammation is ignored, a runny nose often becomes the root cause of more serious processes in the paranasal tract. Often it is mucous discharge that provokes dysfunction of the paranasal sinuses, causing sinusitis.
Sinusitis is a disease characterized by inflammation of the maxillary sinuses , during which the patient experiences pain between the eyebrows and in the head area, nasal congestion, and the inability to maintain breathing through the nose.
In both cases, patients note the formation of copious amounts of mucous secretion. When pus appears, the inflammation becomes bacterial in nature. It is much more difficult to cure this type of sinusitis, so it is important to start therapy at the initial stage.
Find out how to cure bacterial inflammation of the paranasal sinuses here.
The reason for the formation of rhinitis lies in a weak immune system, hypothermia, and improper treatment of inflammation in the ENT organs. In addition, rhinitis becomes the most common cause of inflammation of the adnexal tract. However, sinusitis can also appear due to viral and bacterial damage to the respiratory tract.
Additional reasons include an allergic reaction, trauma to the nasal passages, and improper drug therapy for prolonged rhinitis. Often, inflammation of the maxillary sinuses occurs against the background of a fungal infection when the patient received incorrect treatment with antibiotics.
Chinese nasal sprays with pictures
Sinusitis due to prolonged rhinitis can be cured in various ways. Increasingly, patients are choosing complex treatment using certain drugs from China. They are available to residents of Russia. As a rule, they are not expensive, but at the same time they are most effective.
For reference! You cannot prescribe treatment for acute or chronic sinusitis on your own. Therefore, before purchasing Chinese drugs, consult an experienced and qualified doctor.

One of the most famous Chinese nasal remedies recently has become the drug “ Bilitong ”. The product is considered completely natural, as it is made on the basis of mint, chrysanthemum, borneol crystals and honeysuckle.
Bilitong can be used for acute sinusitis or long-term rhinitis. Patients may not be afraid of a negative reaction from the body, however, in case of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, the course of treatment should be reconsidered.
The remedy has an effective result at the initial stage of development of sinusitis , when the symptoms of the disease have not become permanent. Bilitong can be used in case of rhinitis, in case of complications of ARVI or cold inflammation, as well as in case of infection of the upper respiratory tract.
For reference ! "Bilitong" is considered the most affordable drug in Russia. Its price is less than one hundred rubles.
In addition to the anti-inflammatory effect, Bilitong reduces swelling of the mucous membrane and has a vasoconstrictor effect. The product can be used for frequent bleeding or in case of bacterial inflammation, when there is a risk of rapid proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms.
It is recommended to use the nasal remedy no more than four times a day. Before using Bilitong, you should rinse your nose with any saline solution based on sea water (Aqualor, Aqua Maris, Marimer, No-Sol and others).

This medication reduces the symptoms of long-term rhinitis and eliminates sinusitis, however, only at the initial stage. The use of a spray for acute inflammation of the paranasal tract is ineffective.
The composition of the drug includes mint essential oil, Japanese honeysuckle, polyphenols and beekeeping product. This combination may provoke an allergic reaction, so the use of the product should be discussed with your doctor.
In the absence of hypersensitivity to the components, the drug can be used in the treatment of the following diseases:
- pharyngolaryngitis;
- sinusitis;
- rhinitis;
- ginginitis;
- periodontitis.
The product can be used for no more than five days, administering two sprays into the nasal cavity in the morning and evening.
Features of complex drops
Complex nasal drops may include the following “ingredients”:
- antihistamines. They reduce tissue swelling, rhinorrhea, block histamine receptors, which stimulate the development of allergies;
- vasoconstrictors – reduce the diameter of blood vessels at the site of drug administration. Clinically, this is manifested by a decrease in swelling of the mucous membrane and the volume of mucous secretions. With a decrease in nasal congestion, nasal breathing is restored;
- antimicrobial. Antibacterial and antiviral substances inhibit the vital activity of microbes and clear the pathological focus of infection;
- hormonal – have a powerful anti-inflammatory, decongestant, antihistamine effect;
- immunocorrective. Depending on the purpose of therapy, immunostimulating or immunosuppressive components are prescribed;
- homeopathic, herbal remedies. They have a mild therapeutic effect and have a minimal number of side effects.
The use of combination drugs without an accurate diagnosis is prohibited. For example, for a viral infection, medications with antibacterial activity should not be used. In the atrophic form of rhinitis, the use of vasoconstrictor drugs is contraindicated.
Components of drugs
The basis of most complex medicines is saline solution or antiseptics, such as Dioxidin, Protargol or Furacilin.
Antimicrobial components, which are included in the prescription of drugs, are necessary for the treatment of infectious sinusitis or rhinitis. In childhood, such medications are prescribed for adenoiditis.
Antihistamines include Diphenhydramine or Suprastin. They are part of medications used for allergic rhinitis. Their effect is clinically manifested by a decrease in itching sensations, soreness in the nasopharynx, as well as restoration of nasal breathing.
Among the components with vasoconstrictor activity, Naphthyzine and Phenylephrine are used. They are especially dangerous when used in high doses for a long time. A common complication of such therapy is drug-induced rhinitis and drying out of the nasal mucosa.
Antibacterial components can be represented by Gentamicin, Amikacin, Ceftriaxone. Their use is justified for bacterial inflammation of primary or secondary origin.
Representatives of the hormonal group are Hydrocortisone and Dexamethasone. They quickly reduce the severity of edema and inflammation, but the full therapeutic effect can be expected only after three days from the start of therapy.
As for vitamins A, E, essential oils, plant extracts, they can be the main or additional components. One of the common side effects of natural treatments is allergies.
Application
To obtain the maximum therapeutic effect, complex nasal drops must be instilled after preliminary cleansing of the nasal mucosa.
For this, Aqua Maris, Marimer, Morenasal are recommended. After rinsing with saline solution, it is advisable to blow your nose well.
When using the solution to moisturize the mucous membrane, after cleansing the nose, you can re-drop two drops of it. The number of procedures can reach four per day.
Spray for sinusitis: main types
In modern ENT practice, patients with inflammation of the maxillary sinuses are prescribed various medications. Some are responsible for relieving the symptoms of a pathological process, while others eliminate the cause of its development. Let's take a closer look at which sinusitis sprays are sold in pharmacies.
Decongestants
These are sprays that are designed to quickly relieve swelling of the nasal mucosa and sinuses. Without their medicinal effect, other drugs will not be able to penetrate the nasal canals, as they will remain blocked by the current acute inflammatory process.
A decongent or vasoconstrictor nasal spray almost immediately after administration relieves congestion, rhinorrhea and normalizes breathing. But their use is limited in time and amount of administration. So, most often, decongestants should not be sprayed into the nose for more than a week. And some types of sprays are prohibited for use in the treatment of sinusitis in children under six years of age. In addition, vasoconstrictors are contraindicated in pregnant women.
Popular drugs include:
- Vibrocil (has a decongestant and antihistamine effect, so it can be used in the treatment of allergic sinusitis);
- Sanorin (a drug with naphazoline, effective for 4 hours, which has contraindications for patients with cardiovascular pathologies and children under 12 years of age);
- Tizin (a product with xylometazoline, effective for approximately 6-8 hours).
A vasoconstrictor nasal spray can only be prescribed by an ENT specialist, since most drugs have contraindications.
Saline sprays for sinusitis
Doctors often recommend using moisturizers to restore the mucous membrane. They have no contraindications and can be used in the treatment of newborns.
- Salin (made from sea salt, quickly thins thick discharge and dry crusts);
- AquaMaris (a combined solution of ocean water that has antiseptic properties that flushes pathogens from the sinuses);
- Morenazole (cleanses and moisturizes the mucous membrane, has no contraindications).
Saline sprays are prescribed in combination with other drugs. They contribute to the rapid restoration of damaged tissues, improved drainage of exudate and increased local immunity.
Mucolytic sprays
Despite the fact that mucolytics are usually used in the treatment of the lower respiratory system, such drugs help improve the outflow of mucus from the maxillary sinuses. They not only dilute catarrhal or purulent exudate, but also force it to leave the maxillary voids.
- Sinuforte . This drug is used in the treatment of sinusitis of various locations. It is based on cyclamen, which, after penetrating the mucous tissues, causes irritation, stimulating the outflow of exudate from the cavities. During the action of Sinuforte, the nasopharyngeal mucosa is restored and swelling subsides.
The spray is recommended for use by children over 12 years of age. It is enough to administer 2 doses of Sinuforte per day to achieve a positive medicinal effect. But it is contraindicated for pregnant women, patients with hypertension, allergic reactions, the presence of polyps or cysts inside the maxillary sinuses.
- Rinofluimucil . The spray contains mucolytic and anti-inflammatory active ingredients. Its use relieves swelling and inflammation. The drug is prescribed to patients from 6 years of age. But it is contraindicated during pregnancy, in patients with glaucoma, thyrotoxicosis, and allergies.
A mucolytic spray must be prescribed to patients with purulent sinusitis. Its introduction into the nasal cavity accelerates the process of outflow of pathological exudate and cleansing of the sinuses.
Corticosteroids
For severe inflammation in the maxillary cavities, doctors can use hormonal sprays. Their administration is limited to a short period and only an ENT specialist can indicate the exact dosage. Corticosteroids are often necessary in the treatment of sinusitis and polyposis. Nasal medications do not cause systemic effects.
- Beconase (has a powerful anti-allergic, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect). May cause side effects such as nosebleeds, dryness, septal perforation, allergic reaction. Not prescribed for pregnant women and children under 6 years of age.
- Nasonex (the drug inhibits the proliferation of infectious microorganisms, has an anti-inflammatory and antihistamine effect). The spray is suitable for the treatment of sinusitis in children over 2 years of age and pregnant women. May have side effects such as a burning sensation in the nose, headache. Contraindicated in patients with tuberculosis and viral/fungal sinusitis.
Hormonal medications should only be prescribed by an ENT specialist, since self-medication can lead to serious consequences.

Spray for sinusitis with antibiotic
In the complex therapy of sinusitis of bacterial origin, drugs containing antibacterial substances are prescribed. Unlike tablets or injections, nasal drops and sprays are not absorbed into the patient's bloodstream, so they cannot accumulate in the plasma. Also, local antibiotics do not destroy the intestinal microflora, but actively destroy the causative agent of the disease.
Often an antibacterial spray is prescribed along with anti-inflammatory hormonal drugs. The complex of drugs improves the reduction of swelling, relieves inflammation and accelerates the dilution of pathological mucus in the sinuses.
Popular antibiotic drugs:
- Isofra (has a mild effect on mucous membranes, but quickly destroys the infection that caused sinusitis);
- Bioparox (used in the treatment of pathological processes caused by fungi and bacteria, actively eliminates pathogens from the most remote areas of the nasopharynx).
Antibiotic spray may have side effects. Most often, antibacterial components cause irritation of mucous tissues, which injure the nasal membrane and reduce its protective functions. Sometimes the body gets used to the action of active substances, so next time the antibiotic will not be able to have a positive effect in the treatment of sinusitis. In addition, drugs can provoke thinning of blood vessels, which, when pressure changes, will cause nosebleeds.
To prevent antibacterial drops and sprays from causing deterioration in health, they are prescribed only in extreme cases. For example, if the patient’s nasal breathing is completely blocked and it is necessary to quickly relieve the inflammatory process. To prevent the patient’s body from getting used to the active components, the ENT specialist can regularly change medications. And it is mandatory to treat sinusitis comprehensively, and not to use only one drug.
Nazivin as for sinusitis
Answers:
Tanya Sarbash(Ostrivnaya)
When treating sinusitis, conservative (medicinal) and surgical methods are used.
Drug treatment of sinusitis must necessarily be based on local procedures - the use of drops, sprays, inhalers that can eliminate swelling of the mucous membrane.
Vasoconstrictor drugs include: Tizin, Nazivin, Sanorin, Nazol, Galazolin, Dlynos. For sinusitis, it is necessary to adhere to certain rules for pouring medicinal liquids into the nose. The patient should lie on his side, and then drip vasoconstrictor drops into the half of the nose on which the patient is lying - the drops should fall on the side wall of the nose. You should remain in this position for at least 5 minutes. Then you should turn to the other side and repeat the procedure with the other half of the nose. Only after using these drops can you instill others that have an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory or analgesic effect.
Antibacterial drugs (preferably cephalosporins) and antihistamines (Claritin, Telfast, etc.) are also used in treatment. Rinse the nose with antiseptic solutions (for example, furatsilin). Physiotherapy procedures include such techniques as ultraviolet irradiation of the nasal cavity, UHF on the paranasal sinuses, etc.
A puncture (puncture) is done in order to pump out pus from the sinus, rinse the sinus, and then inject antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs into it. This procedure is accompanied by unpleasant sensations, but its effectiveness is very high. Currently, after a puncture, special tubes are installed in the sinus - catheters, through which the sinus can be washed daily. When using this method, the patient recovers very quickly. But everything has its own indications, and in the initial stages of sinusitis it is not always necessary to perform a puncture; you can get by with rinsing the nose.
Sinusitis should be treated under the supervision of an otolaryngologist (ENT doctor).

Naphthyzin is used for sinusitis to thin the mucus; 2-3 drops are instilled into each nostril.
Chinese spray for sinusitis
Recently, patients with sinusitis have learned about a new herbal preparation that helps cope with the disease without the use of drugs that cause side effects. Chinese Bilitong spray is made from mint, honeysuckle, chrysanthemum and borneol crystals. The price of the product is quite low, so it is recommended to use it in the initial stages of the development of sinusitis in order to prevent an exacerbation of symptoms.
Bilitong can be injected into the nasal cavity for a runny nose due to ARVI or a cold, because the drug can destroy various types of infection. In addition, Chinese spray has the following advantages:
- Relieves the inflammatory process in mucous tissues;
- Improves membrane regeneration after infectious damage;
- Constricts blood vessels, relieving swelling;
- Helps eliminate nosebleeds;
- Prevents the proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms and their migration to other organs and tissues;
- Has a general therapeutic effect.
Bilitong spray is used up to 4 times a day, but it is advisable to use vasoconstrictor drugs before its administration that open the nasal canals and the anastomosis of the maxillary sinuses.
In the treatment of sinusitis, the doctor may prescribe various sprays. Their price depends on the complexity of production and the high cost of the active components used. But the choice of an effective drug should not be based on its cost. On the contrary, the ENT specialist will select medications that can have a positive effect on the body of a particular patient.

Symptoms of sinusitis
The main symptoms of sinusitis are similar to the symptoms of various acute respiratory infections, these include:
- nasal congestion;
- decreased sense of smell and taste;
- increased body temperature;
- severe headaches;
- active lacrimation;
- the appearance of pain in the maxillary sinuses;
- heaviness in the nasal and frontal region when tilting the head down.
If the patient observes some of these symptoms or their complex manifestation, you should immediately consult a specialist. An experienced doctor will prescribe the necessary tests to confirm the diagnosis and also select the right type of treatment. A common type of therapy for sinusitis is the use of various drops.
About sinusitis
The disease is diagnosed in one percent of the population. The main symptomatology is a feeling of heaviness in the forehead and around the sinuses. There is a very sharp pain when tilting the head. The snot is thick and very abundant. The temperature rises, sometimes to critical levels. Occasionally, a cough or sore throat is diagnosed.
During illness, the voice changes slightly. Respiratory troubles are fraught with obstruction of the respiratory process. Patients suffer from a lot of discharge from the nasal passages. Treatment of sinusitis with medications in adults is based on the use of a number of techniques.
The main types of drugs for sinusitis
People suffering from sinusitis wonder which drugs are best to choose for the treatment of such a disease.
For the correct and effective treatment of sinusitis, there are a large number of different medications on the market, the first place among which is occupied by nasal drops.
Such potent drugs should be divided into several categories according to the type of their action:
- vasoconstrictor drugs;
- antibiotic medications;
- drops that actively remove secretions;
- antiallergenic drugs;
- complex nasal drops.
Which modern means to choose for the treatment of sinusitis in most cases depends on the causes of the disease. When choosing drops for sinusitis, you should pay attention to their composition and method of application; most of these drugs should be dripped into the nasal sinuses, following a certain pattern of action, throwing your head back strongly to irrigate a large area of the sinus.
Mucolytics
Mucolytic nasal drops for sinusitis help to liquefy the contents of the sinuses and help normalize its outflow and nasal breathing. They can be used for no longer than 5 days.
Most often, Rinofluimucil is recommended as a local mucolytic.
Rinofluimucil, nasal spray (280 RUR)
It is a combination product that contains acetylcysteine and tuaminoheptane.
This combination provides additional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Acetylcysteine is a powerful mucolytic substance that thins mucous and mucopurulent secretions.
Tuaminoheptane belongs to the class of sympathomimetic amines, which, when applied topically, exhibit a vasoconstrictor and anti-edematous effect.
Rinofluimucil is recommended for the treatment of acute and chronic forms of sinusitis, nasopharyngitis, sinusitis, and vasomotor rhinitis.
The most common side effects include tachycardia, increased blood pressure, dry mucous membranes, difficulty urinating, and manifestations of sensitization.
However, there is a list of Rinofluimucil analogues, which are also cheaper.
Agents that constrict blood vessels
Vasoconstrictor drops facilitate nasal breathing, relieve nasal swelling and restore the outflow of mucus from the sinuses. The disadvantages of such sinuses are the short-term effect and addiction to the components that make up them. Today, common vasoconstrictor nasal drugs are:
A drug | Photo | Price |
Nazivin | From 163 rub. | |
Knoxprey | From 119 rub. | |
For the nose | From 81 rub. | |
Glazolin | From 37 rub. |
Potent drops, which contain some toxic substances, are now rarely used, only in cases of severe disease. Their action is aimed at combating bacteria that actively multiply in the affected sinuses.
The main causative agents of sinusitis of an infectious nature:
- staphylococcus;
- streptococcus;
- corynebacterium;
- Moraxell;
- fusobacterium;
- peptostreptococcus;
- Haemophilus influenzae.
For the treatment of viral and infectious sinusitis, there are drugs containing antibiotics, which are conventionally divided into 3 types - these are first-, second- and third-line drugs. The differences between such drugs are the active ingredients, as well as the forms of sinusitis (sluggish, advanced or chronic).
