Fluimucil - full description

Fluimucil is a potent medicine for dry cough, which is produced in the form of tablets and syrup with a pleasant aroma. The medication has mucolytic, anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties. The active substances included in the tablets and syrup not only dilute the too viscous mucus accumulated in the bronchial space, but also increase its volume. The process of removing pathogenic mucus from the lungs occurs several times faster than usual.

What kind of cough is it used for – dry or wet?

Fluimucil syrup and tablets are used if the patient has a dry cough of infectious or cold etiology. The drug is designed specifically to speed up the process of outflow of sputum, which does not separate from the bronchial tissue on its own.

The main active component of the drug, the substance acetylcysteine, actively interacts with lung cells, enhances their transport function and stimulates the transition of a dry cough to a wet one. Already on the 3-5th day of taking the medicine, the patient experiences copious sputum production during coughing. As the pathogenic mucus is coughed up, the patient begins to feel much better.

In some cases, Fluimucil syrup and tablets can be used to treat patients with prolonged productive cough. This is done in order to speed up the healing process and remove phlegm from the lungs as quickly as possible. In medical practice, there are situations when a patient suffers from a wet cough for several weeks, expectorates phlegm in fairly large volumes, but the positive dynamics for recovery are very weak. In such cases, the risk of a pulmonary disease transitioning from the acute to the chronic stage increases, when sluggish inflammation occurs in the bronchi over a long period of time with periodic bursts of exacerbation. Timely use of Fluimucil syrup or tablets allows you to get rid of pathogenic mucus even from the lower part of the lungs.

How much do Fluimucil tablets and syrup cost?

The cost of Fluimucil syrup and tablets is slightly different due to the peculiarities of the technological production of this drug. The average price for one strip of tablets is 170 rubles. For this price, the buyer will receive 20 tablets for dry cough. A 100 ml bottle of Fluimucil syrup will cost the patient 200 rubles. This is the average price range, which is most often found in most pharmacies that retail this medication. It should be remembered that the pricing policy for the drug is formed not only by state control authorities, but also by the owners of pharmacy chains. Therefore, there may be a slight deviation in the cost of the medicine in one direction or another.

What are the contraindications?

Fluimucil syrup and tablets are well absorbed by the body, since the drug contains a minimal list of potential contraindications for use. Nevertheless, they exist and consist of the following restrictions on use, namely:

  1. Peptic ulcer disease. Fluimucil irritates the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum. If a patient has a peptic ulcer, the wound surfaces of the damaged organs of the gastrointestinal tract are devoid of mucous membrane as such. If the medicine gets on an open wound, a negative reaction of damaged tissues and internal bleeding may occur. In this case, the patient runs the risk of going to the operating table to eliminate the ulcer.
  2. Acetylcysteine intolerance. This means a tendency to allergic reactions precisely to this active substance, which forms the therapeutic basis of the drug. Allergies can manifest themselves in different ways. In some patients, this is the formation of a red rash on the stomach, chest, cheeks and neck. In others, the appearance of urticaria and even the development of bronchial spasm, or sudden swelling of the laryngeal mucosa, cannot be ruled out.
  3. Age under 18 years. The age limit applies only if they want to use effervescent tablets to treat a child. The warning is based on the fact that the chemical reaction that occurs in the patient’s stomach after taking the medication can cause damage to the upper layer of gastric tissue and cause future gastritis or even peptic ulcers.
  4. Liver and kidney diseases. It is not recommended to treat dry cough with Fluimucil syrup and tablets for patients who suffer from severe pathologies of these vital organs. The fact is that the liver and kidneys are entrusted with the task of breaking down the active components of the drug into components and their further removal outside the body. If the patient has initially diseased organs of the excretory and digestive systems, then complete disposal of the remaining medication will be impossible. There is a risk of developing intoxication of the body and exacerbation of underlying liver and kidney diseases.

Before prescribing treatment for dry cough with Fluimucil syrup and tablets, the attending physician, a pulmonologist or therapist, conducts a comprehensive examination of the patient’s body.

If he reveals other diseases that exclude the possibility of taking this drug, then you should listen to the opinion of a specialized specialist and stop using Fluimucil.

Contraindications

The use of Fluimucil is contraindicated and may be dangerous in the following cases:

In case of exacerbation of peptic ulcer, taking the drug is prohibited

It should be borne in mind that in people who have a history of ulcerative lesions of the stomach or duodenum, the use of the drug may provoke the development of a relapse of the disease. Therefore, treatment of patients belonging to this risk group should be carried out with caution and under mandatory medical supervision. At the first manifestations of an exacerbation of a peptic ulcer, you must immediately stop taking the drug and select an analogue that does not have such side effects.

Patients suffering from bronchial asthma are at high risk of developing an attack of suffocation in response to the administration of the drug, so the first dose of the drug should be taken in the presence of medical personnel. The use of Fluimucil during pregnancy should only be carried out as prescribed by a doctor.

Fluifort

The active substance of the drug is carbocisteine. According to the instructions for use, the drug has mucolytic and mucoregulatory effects. In addition, long-term use of the drug is possible for up to 6 months. At the end of therapy, the effect lasts 6–8 days. When assessing which is better - Fluimucil or Fluifort, you should know:

  • Fluifort promotes mucosal regeneration, etc.
