The healing power of the composition

“Pectolvan Ivy” is a medicine with natural ingredients; it is based on ivy leaf concentrate. The medication has mucolytic and mucokinetic effects. Also, “Pectolvan Ivy” provides an antispasmodic effect on the body due to the saponin glycosides included in its composition. Ivy cough syrup does not make breathing difficult and gently eliminates bacteria in the upper respiratory tract. During an inflammatory process in the respiratory system, Pectolvan Ivy turns liquid secretion into viscous sputum, which usually causes a dry cough symptom. The drug causes relaxation of the bronchial muscles, relieves spasms, does not block the cough center, and has a gentle antitussive effect. Medicines in liquid form are easy to use and have a pleasant taste and smell, unlike many tablets and ointments. Pectolvan is available without a prescription and can be found in almost any pharmacy. The price of the drug is affordable, and the effect is no worse than the most expensive antitussive medications. Pectolvan ivy syrup will eliminate cough within a week if you combine it with traditional medicine.

Plant properties

cough medicine for children ivy

Ivy extract, as a mucokinetic agent, stimulates coughing and expectoration. Thanks to saponin glycosides, the secretory activity of the bronchi and the antispasmodic effect increase, vascular tone is strengthened, sputum is formed and separated, which is important in the treatment of respiratory diseases.

The nature of the cough in this case does not matter - ivy extract is suitable for both dry and wet coughs.

Syrups for wet and dry coughs based on ivy extract, in addition to their intended purpose, improve the condition of the sick person. The restorative components of the medicinal plant restore the body after a long illness.

Syrups with ivy fully meet modern requirements for expectorants:

  1. Acceptable efficiency-safety ratio.
  2. Mild bronchodilator property.
  3. Antitussive action.
  4. Antimicrobial effect.
  5. Anti-inflammatory (antiexudative) effect.
  6. Approved for use for all categories of patients.
  7. Minimum list of contraindications.
  8. Convenient release form with a pleasant taste.
  9. Adequate cost.

Due to the natural plant base, a cloudy sediment forms at the bottom of the ivy cough syrup container. This is fine. The medicine should be shaken before use.

Indications for use

The drug in the form of Pectolvan Ivy syrup is prescribed for the treatment of acute ailments accompanied by inflammation of the respiratory system and severe coughing. This medicine is often used in the treatment of chronic bronchial pathologies with inflammation. If a person suffers from a dry barking cough, Pectolvan Ivy will also be effective. The drug is indicated for sore throat and difficult to separate sputum.

Ivy syrup for dry and wet coughs

As you know, there are two main types of cough:

  1. Dry. It is one of the first symptoms of respiratory diseases. It does not cough up phlegm. If ignored, it becomes wet.
  2. Wet. Characteristic of inflammatory processes in the bronchi. The sputum is coughed up.

Ivy syrup will help you relieve cough symptoms

Despite the fact that there are drugs aimed at one type or another, it is the cause that should be treated, and not the symptom, which is cough. Ivy syrup can serve as an adjuvant to relieve symptoms:

  • make the coughing process more comfortable;
  • liquefy mucus without allowing it to dry out;
  • stimulate the removal of mucus from the bronchi.

In this case, the nature of the cough is not important - the drug, which includes this plant, has a complex effect on the symptom. Specialized types can be used if the main treatment has already produced results and now you only need to remove or alleviate residual symptoms.

Ivy for cough

Due to the fact that ivy leaves have two actions at once, both expectorant and coughing, this plant becomes indispensable in the fight against cough. On the one hand, it makes our cough more gentle, and at this moment, diluting the mucus, allows it to leave the bronchi. After which the secretory apparatus of the bronchi begins to work much better, and the mechanism for cleaning the lungs begins its full-fledged work. All this happens thanks to the amazing chemical composition of ivy leaves, which have been skillfully used in pharmacology and medicine. These components quite effectively relax the bronchial muscles, as a result of which the lumen becomes larger and it is easier for sputum to pass away, after which breathing improves.

Ivy tincture for cough

Few people know that the evergreen plant, which most often grows over houses, fences and has strictly decorative functions, has been successfully used in medicine for quite a long time. Gerbion

The antitussive drug Gerbion is a syrup based on ivy leaf extract. Indications for its use are pathologies caused by the inflammatory process in the organs of the respiratory system.

Positive dynamics are observed when using ivy cough syrup for the symptomatic treatment of chronic bronchitis.

The therapeutic effect of Gerbion is a mucolytic, antispasmodic and expectorant effect, facilitating easier coughing of sputum.

Gerbion syrup is prescribed to children over two years of age. A single dose is provided taking into account age characteristics:

  • from 2 to 6 years – 2.5 ml of medicine,
  • from six to ten years of age - 5 ml of syrup,
  • over 10 years of age and adult patients, up to 7 ml of the drug is recommended at a time.

overslept

This analogue of cough medicines based on dry extract of ivy leaves is recommended for children and adults. Prospan, like Gerbion, is produced in the form of a sweet syrup, which makes it much easier for children to use almost from birth. To use Prospan in early childhood, a special dosage is required, which is determined by the pediatrician.

The drug helps cure coughs in various diseases of the respiratory tract, helping to liquefy viscous mucus and facilitate its elimination.

The presence of components in the plant, such as saponins, helps to relax the muscles of the bronchi, which significantly alleviates the patient’s condition during a cough attack.

An important indicator of the drug is the absence of a negative effect on the regulation of the respiratory process.

The dosage of Prospan in the form of syrup does not differ from its main analogue Gerbion. It is described in detail above. As for effervescent tablets with ivy extract for cough, their use is allowed no earlier than 4 years of age and only after agreement with the attending physician.

Pectolvan

The drug Pectolvan ivy, which can eliminate a cough of any origin, has all similar properties.

The release form of the medicine is syrup only. Indications for its use are the already described pathologies of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a painful cough with difficult to separate sputum.

Unlike Prospan, this medicine can be given to children only after one year. The use of the medicine for children aged 2-4 years requires clarification of the dosage with the treating pediatrician. In other cases, the dosage, frequency of administration and duration of the therapeutic course do not differ from the previously described drugs - Gerbion and Prospan.
