Tsitovir - indications for use
Tsitovir-3 for children is used in the treatment of diseases of viral etiology that affect the upper respiratory tract.
Cytovir-3 children's syrup cannot be used in all cases of viral disease; there are contraindications. The main one is hypersensitivity to one of the components of the drug. If after a single use a rash appears on the child’s body or the patient’s general condition worsens, the drug is discontinued and a doctor is consulted.
Other contraindications to the use of syrup include:
- hypotension, convulsions;
- renal failure;
- atopic form of bronchial asthma;
- reduced blood pressure;
- diabetes;
- thrombophlebitis.
Prevention and complex therapy of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in adults and children over 6 years of age.
hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
pregnancy;
children under 6 years of age.
With caution: during breastfeeding (use is possible if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the child).
In a dry place, protected from light, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
Keep out of the reach of children.
3 years.

pharmachologic effect
The immunomodulatory drug is a means of etiotropic and immunostimulating therapy, has an indirect antiviral effect against influenza A and B viruses and other viruses that cause acute respiratory viral diseases.
Bendazole induces the body's production of endogenous interferon and has an immunomodulatory effect (normalizes the body's immune response). Enzymes, the production of which is induced by interferon in the cells of various organs, inhibit viral replication.
Alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan (thymogen) is a synergist for the immunomodulatory effect of bendazole, normalizing the T-cell component of immunity.
Ascorbic acid activates the humoral component of the immune system, normalizes capillary permeability, thereby reducing inflammation, and exhibits antioxidant properties, neutralizing oxygen radicals that accompany the inflammatory process, and increases the body's resistance to infection.
Pharmacokinetics
When taken orally, the drug is completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The bioavailability of bendazole is about 80%, alpha-glutamyl tryptophan is no more than 15%, and ascorbic acid is up to 70%. Ascorbic acid is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract (mainly in the jejunum). Plasma protein binding - 25%. Tmax after oral administration - 4 hours. Easily penetrates into leukocytes, platelets, and then into all tissues, penetrates the placental barrier. Gastrointestinal diseases (peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, intestinal motility disorders, helminthic infestation, giardiasis), consumption of fresh vegetable and fruit juices, and alkaline drinking reduce the binding of ascorbic acid in the intestines. Ascorbic acid is metabolized mainly in the liver with the formation of deoxyascorbic acid, then oxaloacetic and diketogulonic acids. It is excreted by the kidneys, through the intestines, with sweat, breast milk unchanged and in the form of metabolites.
The products of bendazole biotransformation in the blood are two conjugates formed as a result of methylation and carboethoxylation of the imino group of the imidazole ring of bendazole: 1-methyl-2-benzylbenzimidazole and 1-carboethoxy-2-benzylbenzimidazole. Bendazole metabolites are excreted in the urine.
Alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan, under the influence of peptidases, is broken down into L-glutamic acid and L-tryptophan, which are used by the body in protein synthesis.
Pharmacological action of Tsitovir 3
According to the instructions for Cytovir 3, the active ingredients of the drug in all forms of release are ascorbic acid, bendazole, thymogen. Excipients of the capsules are calcium stearate and lactose. An additional component of the powder for preparing the solution is fructose. The excipients included in the syrup for children are sucrose and purified water.
Cytovir 3 exhibits indirect antiviral activity against viruses type A and B, as well as those that cause acute respiratory diseases.
Thymogen influences the T-cell component of immunity and enhances the immunomodulatory effect of bendazole.
Bendazole promotes the production of endogenous interferon and activates the synthesis of enzymes that blunt the replication of viruses.
When using Cytovir 3, ascorbic acid, which is part of it, stimulates the humoral component of immunity and improves capillary permeability, reduces the intensity of the inflammation process and has a pronounced antioxidant property by reducing the negative effect of peroxide compounds and free radicals on cell membranes. Ascorbic acid also increases the body's resistance to infections.
When administered orally, Tsitovir 3 is completely and quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The active components of the drug have high bioavailability. The period of complete elimination of the drug from the body is 6 hours. It is excreted from the body in the form of metabolites through the kidneys.
Tsitovir-3: instructions for use
The drug is taken orally 30 minutes before meals.
For the purpose of prevention and treatment, adults and children over 6 years of age are prescribed 1 caps. 3 times/day.
The regimens for therapeutic and prophylactic use are identical.
The drug in the form of a syrup or oral solution is prescribed for children aged 1 to 3 years, 2 ml of syrup 3 times a day for children aged 3 to 6 years - 4 ml 3 times a day for children aged 6 to 10 years old - 8 ml 3 times a day; children over 10 years old - 12 ml 3 times a day.
The course of prevention or treatment is 4 days.
If necessary, the course of prophylaxis is repeated after 3-4 weeks.
Rules for preparing a solution for oral administration
Add 40 ml of water (boiled, cooled to room temperature) to the bottle with powder and shake well. The contents should completely dissolve. The volume of the solution after adding water is 50 ml.
Dosage
Cytovir-3 syrup is intended for oral administration before meals. Recommended dosages and regimen of use of the drug for the treatment and prevention of acute respiratory viral infections depend on the age of the child:
- Children from 1 year to 3 years – 2 ml 3 times a day.
- Children from 3 to 6 years old – 4 ml 3 times a day.
- Children from 6 to 10 years old – 8 ml 3 times a day.
- Children over 10 years old - 12 ml 3 times a day.
The average duration of the course of therapy and prevention is 4 days. If necessary, this course of taking Cytovir-3 syrup can be repeated after 3-4 weeks.
Compatibility with other drugs
No interactions of alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan with drugs have been identified.
Bendazole prevents the increase in vascular resistance caused by non-selective beta-blockers. Strengthens the hypotensive effect of antihypertensive and diuretic drugs. Phentolamine enhances the hypotensive effect of bendazole.
Ascorbic acid increases the concentration of benzylpenicillin and tetracyclines in the blood. Improves the absorption of iron preparations in the intestines. Reduces the effectiveness of heparin and indirect anticoagulants. Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), oral contraceptives, fresh juices and alkaline drinks reduce its absorption and absorption. When used simultaneously with ASA, the urinary excretion of ascorbic acid increases and the excretion of ASA decreases. ASA reduces the absorption of ascorbic acid by approximately 30%. Ascorbic acid increases the risk of developing crystalluria during treatment with salicylates and short-acting sulfonamides, slows down the excretion of acids by the kidneys, increases the excretion of drugs with an alkaline reaction (including alkaloids), and reduces the concentration in the blood of oral contraceptives. When used simultaneously, it reduces the chronotropic effect of isoprenaline. Reduces the therapeutic effect of antipsychotics (neuroleptics) - phenothiazine derivatives, tubular reabsorption of amphetamine and tricyclic antidepressants. Barbiturates and primidone increase the excretion of ascorbic acid in the urine.
Reviews about Tsitovir-3
Children's age means that syrup is more convenient to use than tablets or capsules. The instructions for Cytovir-3 recommend taking syrup for children and adults 30 minutes before meals.
Regimens for taking Tsitovir-3:
- 2 ml three times a day for children from one year to 3 years for four days;
- 4 ml three times a day for children from 3 to 6 years old for four days;
- 8 ml three times a day for children from 6 to 10 years old for four days;
- 12 ml three times a day for children over 10 years of age for four days.
For the purpose of prevention, you can repeat the course after 3-4 weeks.
Numerous reviews of syrup for children Cytovir-3 were divided approximately as follows: 30% - negative, 70% - positive or close to neutral. Often, patients who have used the drug note the absence of a “medicinal” aftertaste and a more convenient release form (syrup) compared to analogues (capsules, tablets, injections).
Feedback from doctors is more restrained, this is due to the widespread reluctance to recommend drugs that affect the immune system due to little knowledge of their effect on the immune system in the long term.
The price of syrup for children Tsitovir-3 in Ukraine is 145 hryvnia. In Russia, the cost of syrup is close to 270 rubles, Tsitovir-3 capsules can be bought for 255-280 rubles.
The price of analogues in other forms of release varies greatly: for example, the price of Lavomax tablets (6 pieces) is 440 rubles, and 20 Immunal tablets cost 210-220 rubles.
