pharmachologic effect
The drug has antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, antiviral effects . The medicine is made from plant components: Pelargonium reniforme/sidoides root of South African origin.
The active substance protects tissues from the effects of infectious agents and promotes rapid recovery after microbial infection. The root extract contains flavonoids , coumarins and specific acids of organic origin, which have a pronounced bacteriostatic and bactericidal effect against gram-positive flora and gram-negative bacteria ( proteus , staphylococci , klebsiella , streptococci , mycobacteria etc.).
Plant components stimulate the immune system, activating the mechanisms of nonspecific and specific immunity . Due to the induction of the synthesis of interleukins , the phagocytic activity of macrophages increases and the production of interferon .
Gallic acid and umcalin induce the production of nitric oxide to activate macrophages, which allows the inactivation of pathogens of infectious diseases. The medication has a cytoprotective effect , which is actively used in the treatment of microbial infections. Gallic acid stimulates the synthesis and release of interferon, activates the work of immune cells, and promotes the mutual regulation of cytokines .
Quercetin has an antioxidant effect by stabilizing redox processes (stimulates tissue respiration, reduces the severity of hypoxia , removes metabolic and radionuclides ).
The drug stabilizes the state of the intercellular substance in connective tissue, inhibits hyaluronidase , increases the strength of vascular walls, and has a pronounced mucolytic effect . Plant components reduce the viscosity of sputum and promote its removal from the lumen of the bronchial tree.
Choice of treatment
The name of Dr. Komarovsky is familiar to many today - for the first time, TV viewers, and not ordinary patients, saw Evgeniy Olegovich on screens in 2010. Since then, a television “school” teaching how to properly care for children and help them with illnesses has gained immense popularity. The use of seemingly simple methods as an alternative to numerous medications is one of the features of Komarovsky therapy. The doctor believes that every parent can learn to cope with difficult situations - of course, interacting with the child’s attending physician.
Where to start choosing treatment for a sore throat? The correct tactic is to first determine what causes this symptom. According to the doctor, it can be provoked by:
- drying of the mucous membranes of the mouth, pharynx, tonsils;
- respiratory infections of viral and bacterial nature;
- the presence of a foreign body that causes damage to the mucous membrane.
The reasons are different - and the treatment will be different. Algorithm for adults to deal with a sore throat in a child:
- Foreign body - urgent care is required at a medical facility.
- Bacterial infection - urgent consultation with a pediatrician is required.
- ARVI - consultation with a pediatrician is required, but before it you can take some actions on your own.
In 99% of cases, a sore throat is a manifestation of ARVI (acute respiratory viral infection).
ARVI, as a rule, does not require emergency care and can be treated quite effectively at home in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations. However, if we are talking about a bacterial infection, you should be wary of streptococcal sore throat and diphtheria. The key feature of these diseases is the absence of a runny nose. The doctor emphasizes: if the throat is red, the body temperature is elevated, and there is no discharge from the nose, there is no doubt that a doctor is urgently needed.
Indications for use
Umkalor is prescribed for infectious pathologies (acute and chronic) caused by sensitive microorganisms:
- tracheitis;
- bronchitis;
- pharyngitis;
- sinusitis;
- sinusitis;
- ethmoiditis;
- otitis;
- nasopharyngitis;
- sphenoiditis;
- angina.
Good tolerability of the drug does not guarantee the absence of adverse reactions
Umkalor has a high safety profile, which has been confirmed by several clinical trials. However, there are some contraindications and adverse reactions.
Umkalor should not be used if:
- hypersensitivity to the composition of the drug (in addition to pelargonium extract, it contains ethanol and glycerin);
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- renal or liver failure;
- high risk of developing bleeding of various origins.
The instructions for use state that the simultaneous use of Umkalor and coumarin-based drugs (for example, Warfarin) can enhance the anticoagulant effect of the latter, which will lead to increased bleeding. In such cases, it is better to replace the phytoantibiotic with a similar agent that is not capable of such drug interactions.
During therapy with Umkalor, the following undesirable effects may occur:
- allergic type reactions;
- symptoms from the gastrointestinal tract (vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain).
No cases of drug overdose have been identified to date.
Instructions for use (Method and dosage)
Treatment of an infectious disease in the acute stage : three times a day, 30 drops of solution orally. Duration of therapy is 7-10 days. It is recommended to dissolve the drops in a glass of water and take the resulting solution 30 minutes before meals.
Instructions for use of Umkalor for the prevention of relapses : three times a day, 10-20 drops.
Treatment regimen for children:
- 6-12 years: three times a day, 20 drops;
- 1-6 years: 10 drops three times a day.
Treatment of adenoids with “Protargol” according to the scheme
This medication deserves extreme caution. This is indeed a potent drug containing colloidal silver. Treatment of adenoids with Protargol requires strict adherence to the doctor’s instructions, according to the approved scheme. It is attributed to complex, severe forms of adenoid pathogenesis. When it is urgently necessary to necrotize the putrefactive layer of the nasopharyngeal epidermis (furunculous adenoiditis, purulent rhinitis, sinusitis).
The regimen for using Protargol is approved only by an otolaryngologist. The infected nasal cavity is treated with cotton swabs:
- in mild cases, no more than once a day;
- in severe degrees of adenoid-purulent pathosis, 2 (3 times) a day.
Carefully! Do not force the use of Protargol by deciding on your own. This is dangerous in the sense of an overdose of silver elements in the child’s body!
Argyrosis is intoxication of a child’s body with silver elements. A terrible disease that is characterized by the serious condition of young patients, hair loss, and pallor (with a silvery tint) of the skin. And, this is quite possible, only as a consequence of the incorrect, uncontrolled use by parents of the drugs “Protargol”, “Sialor” for self-medication of their children.
special instructions
Solutions with plant extracts become cloudy over time without losing their effectiveness. During long-term storage, slight changes in the taste and color of the medicine are possible. Caution is required when treating patients with pathologies of the renal system, liver, brain diseases, after suffering traumatic brain injuries , as well as alcoholism . The effect of the drug may affect the ability to drive vehicles and perform complex types of work.
Adenoids: homeopathy, treatment regimen
What additional homeopathic remedies are effectively synthesized in a complex treatment option? Indeed, thanks to such a combinatorial program, the adenoids are much faster exposed to destructive onslaught. After all, pharmacological preparations and, at the same time, purely phytoformations begin to act with a powerful onslaught.
What does homeopathy in the overall “joint treatment regimen” ? When using nasal sprays with vasodilating clinical characteristics, such as Nasonex, Sofradex, Aqua-spray. The same above-mentioned “Euphorbium compositum” products should be used.
Actively use herbal solutions, both home-made and those ordered at the pharmacy (in the finished product preparation department). Aloe oil, tea tree oil, black cumin oil, tea tree oil are rare herbal homeopathics. But in combination with purely synthetic hormonal, antibacterial, antihistamine medications, the chemical harmful effects on the child’s body are significantly neutralized.

Do I need an antibiotic?
One of the most pressing issues is the need to use antibacterial drugs. While some parents are horrified by these medications, others cannot imagine treating their child without an antibiotic. Such extremes, unfortunately, are not uncommon. Dr. Komarovsky goes into detail about when antibiotics are really needed.
First of all, a red throat is not a reason to take antibacterial drugs. However, as well as for refusing them. The doctor recommends to parents: when the child is completely healthy, examine his throat carefully (of course, without scaring him, but for example, by offering to play at being examined by a doctor). Remember what the mucous membrane looks like normally. After this, it will be much easier to compare and identify changes in the disease (plaque, pronounced redness, asymmetry).
High temperature is also not a criterion for starting antibiotic therapy. Fever is a reaction to the invasion of a pathogen, and not an indicator of its belonging to viruses or bacteria. Moreover, for ARVI, antibiotics are not needed - these drugs have no effect on viruses. However, if a child begins to have a severe sore throat, the possibility of a sore throat cannot be ruled out.
Streptococcal tonsillitis is an absolute indication for starting antibiotic therapy.
Although sore throat is often referred to as all manifestations of sore throat, this is a false statement. The causative agent of sore throat is streptococcus, which, if left untreated, can cause diseases of the heart, joints, and kidneys. Therefore, refusing antibacterial drugs is very dangerous. All prescriptions (antibiotics, lozenges, rinses) must be received from the pediatrician after an in-person examination.
